XFX 780i SLI

I love this board, got my Q6600 stable @ 3.6-1.53v cpuz. Its not a great chip though and takes nearly 1.65v to even get vista to boot and still not stable when running prime.

Set up TriSLI in no time at all and posted a 18k+ score in 3Dmark 06. Thats 3xOcuk GTX's at a very mild overclock. The one problem im having with oc'ing the cards is heat, my cpu is water cooled but my cards arnt so even trying to get them running at 650/1500 causes the middle cards temp to start rising, top and bottom cards are usually 65c ish but middle is 80-85c. I've already cut two extra holes in the side of my case and fitted 2 120mm fans blowing air directly onto the cards but its just too much heat to dissapate. Im begining to think water cooled is the only way to go for serious oc's on TriSLI.

Im going to be setting the board up with my new QX9650 tonight so I'll report back how that goes, Im thinking about pulling 1 GTX out and running a better overclock on the cards to see if this is better than 3.

heres the result of an oc'd QX9650. :)

Theres much more room to overclock this chip but as it cost so much im gonna stay at [email protected] which really stable and not pushing too hard

Its not that is sucks, its designed for high resolutions, this is 1680x1050, it doesnt slow down much at all.

Plus as a said earlier you cant overclock the cards much as hest becomes an issue, guys on the EVGA forum are hitting 24-29k in 3dmark with water cooled cards.
