You guessed it, Yet Another Muslim Thread.

I know you all love a discussion when it involves Muslims, so I thought I'd share an article with you that I just found on Yahoo! News. More importantly though, it adds a whole new spin on the issue of Muslim women being allowed to wear a headscarf in certain situations.

LONDON (AFP) - A female Muslim juror has been arrested in Britain after allegedly listening to an MP3 player under her hijab headscarf during a murder trial, police said Monday.

The woman in her early 20s was spotted by a fellow juror listening to music as she was meant to be helping try the case of a pensioner accused of bludgeoning his wife to death after 50 years of marriage.

She could now be charged with contempt of court and, if convicted, may be punished with an indefinite jail sentence and an unlimited fine.

What do you guys think, will she try to get out of it with politically-correct bull or take it standing?

obviously that one, who wouldn't. Hopefully she'll fail though. But in places like a court jurors, judges, defendants ect should not be able to hide there face or ears.

Without seeing the face, you have no idea what there body language is saying and ears should be uncovered, to prevent cases like this. Which will cost us tax payers 10s of thousands. As there will now be a retrial.

for me maybe for you?

this is a very serious crime, not only has she wasted thousands of pounds she could have sent an innocent guy to prison for a long time.

Looks like she'll probably be getting a harsher sentence than the murderer :eek:

So you don't think that this adds to the debate of wether there should be restrictions on where a headscarf may or may not be worn? Personally I think that they should be forbidden in somewhere like a courtroom, especially if some people are going to abuse the right so they can listen to music under it.
