Just been playing with confused.com and autotrader.co.uk. (under an assumed identity living next door to me).
Looks like I'll be able to insure a 1.4 ~S Reg hatch for under a grand (20y/o male, Father down as named driver, 3 years claim free driving experience as a named driver, used a 1998 1.4 Bravo SX for the quotes), would be the 1st Policy I've ever taken out. And phoning around insurers should be cheaper.
So with a Job here at Uni it looks like a car is entirely possible.
Yipee, I'm a happy chappy.
So assuming I do go ahead with this, what beginners mistakes am I going to make?
Edit: I already know the 1.4 Bravo is a mistake.
