Yewen looks at: Lian Li S80b

Answer me this if you could Yewen:

The front door appears to have it's hinges attached to two brackets, top and bottom which appear to be affixed to the case with a total of 4 screws.

Now is it possible to unscrew those brackets thus removing the door? I fancy the look of that sleek aluminium front panel much more than that door...

Well, it has the screws at top and bottom!

Its Lian Li so they are purely for function, so I would imagine you would be able to yes. I wont though for fear of ruining the door! :p

So nice as it is, got a lot to try out on it first but it most certainly looks removeable, the door is not able to come off any other way so probably intended for replacing the door.

Yewen, Whats the size differance between this and a PC-70 Full tower? My main rig really cant get any bigger, but i really want one of these!

Well, its a little bit shorter.

Let me get you a really good comparative picture I saw on the net, hold on.

That picture shows it with the CD bezel.

Easiest way to tell though is just compare the heights in the specs.

Internally the S80 seems smaller than the v1000+ yet it is a bigger case.

Ive found it resists sweat dropping onto it and finger marks much better than an Akasa Eclipse does, going to be starting the build again in an hour!

The build quality looks very good indeed. Not fussy on the front though.

Hey Yewen, did you notice you have 'Orbs' in your pics? These are meant to be spirits you know!

Just dust caught by the flash of the camera. Some consipracy nuts think that these are 'spirits' ;)

Orbs travel slow and fast. Ever seen dust travelling very very fast with no wind in a room?

any ideas on this?
It isn't removable, no. Although, Yewen mentions his raptor is almost inaudible through both side panels which might make the silentmaxx redundant. I'm contemplating whether or not to take my raptor out of a silentmaxx enclosure and use the rack instead.

Try it, I was amazed, serious kicks the v1000+'s backside for seek noise.

I will be finnishing my main rig build off soon. :D

my issue is not seek noise its vibration, even in the silentmaxx enclosure my samsung spinpoint Sata2 250G vibrates a lot to the point of seriously annoying, at the moment its in a PC7B+ and stil resonates like crazy, for cooling would you recommend the v1000+ and S80B over the PC7+ also for noise absorbsion specifically something to silence my spinpoint (the suposed quietest drives around.)

Its great for vibration, just noticed it as its reduced the raptor in the rack down a lot. :)

Got my main rig in it and its pretty good!
