Eating evening meal I thought I will cut my hair tonight before my shower so when cleaned up got the kit out in kitchen - I do it in kitchen as it's easier to vac up and hate hair in bathroom.
Standing there cutting my hair and thought this hair trimmer is a bit rough tonight - Wasn't till I had nearly finished when I realised I hadn't put the guide on so I now have a skinhead. I did have a mirror but you have to take your glasses off so it was cut by touch - also you have to take hearing aids out as well so couldn't hear wife asking why I had gone skinhead.
I normally cut it to a number 2 so now searching for a bobble hat for tomorrow.

It's odd really that you never think you will get old - I could never accept I would be like my Dad and here I am outlived him by 20 yrs - He went at 60 and if I can last till end of March I will be in the big 80's - I don't feel any different from 10 yrs ago - well perhaps a bit as I think I got hit by the Flu at start of january and it's taken longer to kick it off.
So all things being equal I feel I can last a bit longer - No major medical problems yet except blood pressure which is well under control.

I am a bit bored at the moment -the older you get the less mates and family you have, not that we have much family anyway. There is something to be said for being at head of queue rather than at the end.

It is scary. I'm 38 and I can really feel time accelerating.
I think it was seeing my Gfs mum pass which was absolutely horrible has really hit me.
Her dad is on his own now and apparently sometimes get quite bored. His friends etc keep passing and it just sounds so... Horrible.

Made me want to live life and stop saving endlessly for the future.

Life is a strange thing.

Made me smile, but in the firm knowledge it will come to all of us !

I went the same route as you but sort of consciously. I bought some clippers when COVID started as the barbers were all closed and started with my usual grade 2. The guide was rubbish and kept falling off, so I've gone with the grade 0 ever since. I do it outside and then just check the back of my head inside when I can do the two mirrors jobbie.

My sole consolation in all this is my brother is 4 years younger and balder. :D

I remember when this place was full of school kids discussing exam results, options and which uni to go to.

Now we're all talking about getting old! It's like a net on 80m or top band.

When's your birthday, will we have to change your username? ;)

This place seemed to capture a demographic to which I feel I'm right in the middle.
Most seem in to their 30s at least.

Its nice to not have it riddled with "younguns"

Man. I am old! :D

I used to have lots of wild hair, picture anime style.. used to get it cut at crazy prices every three/four weeks.

I knew I was going thin but kept up the image, I managed to go though the first lock down without cutting my hair until right at the end when i mullet it myself only to get a hair cut a few weeks later.

When we was in the second lockdown, I had an haircut booked in, but was spending Christmas Day with my niece who’s a hypochondriac. I wasn’t going to try her but since I told her sister, and it’s a case of now that she knew she had to tell her sister. Anyway I ordered a new trimmer from Amazon, and the rest is history.. been cutting my hair ever since. I did let it grow out for a few weeks, while trimming the sides and back but someone in the mid 40s shouldn’t be rocking a mullet unless they are a wrestler, in a band or heavy into their cousins.

In whole, the lockdown experience has changed me a lot, had a health scare so I’ve been on a fitness kick since then. I don’t feel the need to socialise at all, rather just stay at home, read or do something else. Some would say that I preferred my own company before but now a days.. I can go weeks without socialising.

I guess that I’ve also come to the conclusion that I will never get to meet that someone special, yes it’s my own fault that I’m this age and still single.. but now I’ve made plans to ensure that I’m self sufficient in the future.

It’s crazy, the amount of friends and socialising that I used to do in my teens and twenties.. now a days a few hours playing with the great nephews/nieces.. going for a family meal or having to go to a wedding/party tires me out.. lol

I turned 60 at the end of last year. Keep wondering who that old bloke in the mirror is as it can't be the 18 year old standing there
When I look in the mirror I have a laugh and tell myself to not stop being young at heart or I will really will be an old man.
