YouFibre

I just found out that @aquiss now offer business packages over Netomnia infra. That could well be the holy grail for me, allowing me to keep my /29 over /31 and /48 over /127, my 1ms latency to Manchester and most big websites/services — but with Martin's customer service, rather than whatever you want to call YouFibre's effort. If (once) YouFibre's retail customer base is sold to VM/O2, it's a no-brainer for me.

YouFibre have slashed the price of YOU8000 (10Gbps, effectively) from £99.99 to £50/month, in response to EE's reveal of their own 8Gbps trial at £75/month (albeit 10:1 rather than symmetric).

YouFibre's 'time-limited offer' is very tempting. The 8G package has always been the halo, never discounted, and it's on my upgrade plan anyway (10Gb optical edge and core, 2.5Gb access layer). They have apparently increased the contract length to 24 months from 12 (to line up with VM upstream, or claw back the cost overall?), however.
 
dang i just saw and upgraded, and came to post here lol

so they said live date will be 1st Sept (due to just hitting the billing cycle) but they can speed it up if i call back monday

so £50 p/m for 8G 24 m contract and no RPI increase

no brainer tbh

he didnt have a clue if i needed a new ONT or the one i have can handle it (hopefully it can) and i have my own mesh going into it with 10G ports, so i will store their router for safe keepings when they send it

Nice. I'll be joining you once my core upgrade is complete. :) If you have 2Gb or below then very much more than likely you only have a 2.5Gb ONT, so you'll need an engineer out to replace it. First line support are quite clueless about that type of thing, unfortunately.
 
They sent the 622v with my 2Gb, so that is 10G capable, it'd be quite tempting if I didn't just spend 6 hrs with support, all I wanted was a static IP, now I have non-functioning internet, as usual my experience with Youfibre far below Virgin Media......
 
i have the white box (no labels or pn or anything written on it, was provided with the 1G then i upgraded to 2G, same ONT

so yours is the Adtran 622V black unit, if so then I guess they will need to replace

622v is 10G capable and I have the YF Pro router, YF got me going in the end, it was a night without internet though, fortunately 5G failover, still I decided to use the time whilst in netwrok debug mode to wire 10G to the rest of the house APs, up the outside wall in some trunking and some interior under carpet runs, only one of 6 APs not wired now but its just the kitchen and I can get > 2Gb even when it is not wired, yay wifi7 mesh. An unusual wave of motivation hit me :D

Annoyingly I moved my 5G to ID mobile and unlike three, I was not hitting 1gb, only a few hundred, it was enough as a back up but a shame, I assumed it'd be the same as three.

I decided to leave 8000, whilst it is only £20 more, I don't need it, not for 24 months.

Getting more than 2Gbps over the Wi-Fi 7 mesh is impressive. Wiring five of the six access points during a network outage is also a remarkably productive way to spend a frustrating evening.

I cheated, I did not wire 5, I got an aerial man in to do a couple of the high ones whilst I had some scaffold up, £40 a port, I had all the stuff ready to do it my self but my missus reckons I am a liability and wouldn't let me do man things on the scaffolding, I apparently had to pay a real man ...... :( :D

i called them today and they flipped the switch from their end and 10G baby :D

..ok 8G


router should in the post soon but i will put it aside in case ever needed

most my wired kit is 2.5G spec so what can i upgrade, couple of SFP+s coming tomorrow, and some bits / toys, will 10G DAC the switches I have
impressed, getting 1.6/3.2 on decent wifi 7 kit like s26u

been a good day :D
 
Nice, I was just using a TP-Link TL-SX105 5-Port 10G Desktop Unmanaged Switch, Fanless jobby, nice little unit quite low power, no noise or heat, needed more ports though so added one of those cheapy 8 port 10Gb jobbies from amazon, seems Ok so far though it has a fan I can hear, so may have to mod it, I like no fans, preferably, as my network room is my office too :D

The actual broadband has been very good, just whenever I contact them for something, it is days of typing..... chat support is rubbish as an experience.

I had some problems with IOT stuff on my network, it has not been good for months and I thought this might be related to CGNAT that youfibre use, this was why I was setting up a static IP to test, and indeed since doing this I have had no issues with Octopus cant control device on my charger and simple things like smart plugs and doggy cam :D etc no longer have long latency etc, early days though but seems to have done the trick, everything works as it did when I was on Virgin Media but much faster and better latency overall.

Shame I had to pay for a static IP to make the broadband work for everything that just works on a normal ISP.

The data light should be blue if it’s got a 10Gb connection on the WAN on the Nokia.
 
hi all new to the forum been serching for help on the issue im facing bought the 8 gig package have the white ont have cat 6a cables but on the main page for the pro router they sent me it says link speed 2.5 could the ont need updateing ? any advice would eb apreciated thnaks

Yep, itounds like you need them to send an engineer round to swap the ONT. Just double check you don't have a second Ethernet port available on the ONT. Depending on when you had your original install done, some had a 2.5Gb and a 10Gb port. More likely you just need a new one though!
