I was a little surprised to find that I wasn't supplied with the Eero device and instead have been supplied with an Arris NVG578LX. I haven't taken their "Mesh Option" so is this possibly the reason?
Think it is worth me raising this with them as the Eero is supposed to be a really good device.

Did you order the 1GB line?

I think I'll leave things as they are and see how we get along. I'm certainly getting the right kind of speeds from this router for wired connections. WiFi wise it is reaching all the corners and unlike my outgoing Ubiquity LR - it supports WiFi 6, which our mobiles informed us of yesterday evening.

I was expecting the Eero 6 Pro on the 1Gbps package but got a lower spec Eero 6+

I spoke to customer support who said they could send an engineer out to swap it but the 6+ was now the standard offering on 1Gbps in this area, not really worried as use my own router, but they should provide what they clearly state on their own website with is the eero 6 Pro in the 1 gbps

@stoofa Do you also have the Optical terminal on the wall or are you just getting the aRris as a combined optical terminal and router. In our install we have a black optical box with a 10gbps port a 1gbps port 2 phone connections and powred by 12v wall wart which goes to the Error 6+ as I undersatand it the Arris is a combined Optical terminal and Router so cuts out the middleman

The optical terminal is like this

I've got that Optical Terminal as well as the Arris.

Am I ok temporarily unplugging Optical Terminal and Router? These are now in a different location in the house and I want to plug a smallish UPS (if we lose power, we kind of reply on the WiFi calling feature on our phones).
In the good old days you'd leave your line connected for a "training period" and any unplugging during that time could have a nasty affect on your connection speed. That isn't still a thing is it?

We have had ours unplugged for some time with no issues, and we normally run it through a UPS as our Electrical Supply Changes from Grid to Local twice a day, so there is a momantary loss of power, the UPS keeps all the PC Equipment happy, but there was no issues when I did unplug the Optical Terminal for some time to do some owrk on the wall.

I've just had a letter through the post from youfibre saying that they are now available in my area and upon checking my postcode on their website, it is indeed available in my area.

I am currently on BT 500 fibre and would like to know does youfibre use the BT fibre cable or their own cable?

Also, I not that clued up when it comes to ISP tech so was wondering, I read that youfibre uses CSNAT and was wondering if that would interfere with my Plex server and the ability to stream from it outside my home network?

Thanks

No youfibre use their own cable not the bt one

And Plex servers will work as long as ipv6 has been enabled in tour area. But some other home automation stuff won’t. Still better getting a static ipv4 in my opinion

We stream from our Plex server to the car (music) via CarPlay and it worked vi ipv6 but has been more stable with the ipv4 static

So is ipv6 enabled by default and if not, does this needs to be enabled via the router or by contacting youfibre?

So just to clarify, a Plex server will run perfectly fine on a static ipv4 as normal and without any issues?

If they have enabled IPV6 in your area it will come on automatically. you can tell from the ipv6 test page. and its 100% perfect on a static ipv4

I've always been rather weary of static ips especially if you're just a normal user and not a security expert. I get almost daily phishing emails so I can only imagine the amount of hackers trying ip ranges to exploit day1 stuff. Atleast with a dynamic ip you're not a constant target for the same people.

Never had any issues when using a static IP for over 15 years. Where is your email hosted?

Has anyone here used youfibre for over 2 years and if so, when it came to renewing your contract, has the prices got up dramatically or stayed near enough the same?

I suspect you'll struggle to find anyone. They only really started rolling out properly in 2021.

I'd imagine they'll just continue on at a similar rate, they always have cheap deals on so not much hassle to renew.
