Try some of that sponge stuff that you get for filters cant remember the name but worked for a filter that I have to stop the vibrations

Wondering if anyone can help, me and the Mrs recently added some live plants into our 64litre tank and, and now we have a bit of a snail problem we noticed one a few weeks ago but now we suddenly have about 12+ keep seeing little baby ones stuck to the glass i can currently see about 10 on the front of the tank, anyone know the best way to get rid of them?

I had a similar problem a few weeks back. Moved a loach across from my other tank and 90% of them have been eaten in under a week. Yoyo or Zebra loach should do it.

Its clown loach that are recommened for eating snails as its there natural food, but as always captive breed dont seem to do what they should. I brought 6 clown loach and made no differance.

I had thousands of small ram snails and would not get a snail killer incase it poisoned the tank with all there dead bodies.

Funnily enough also had a wire algae problem and used Green Algae Control from King British with care as it can harm Loachs for over a month now and dam me its slowly killing of the snails as it is harmful to snails. Two in one

Ive just got rid of a load in my 64l tank. I pulled out all the plants and scrubbed down all the glass. I then used my net to scoop up all my sand and sived out all the crap out of it.
There were about 100 dead snails and loads of live ones which I threw in the bin.

If you haven't got sand then try an assassin snail or 2 (takes a couple of weeks for them to eat the pests)
Or try a piece of lettuce anchored to the bottom of the tank. Do this over night and when you wake up in the morning the lettuce should hopefully be covered in the little buggers which you can take out and throw in the bin

Yeah thanks i might try that lettuce trick and see what happens, and that assassin snail seems interesting i will keep a look out for them in my local shop, think my tank is to small for a loach as other people have suggested.

Cloudy eye is usually caused by poor water conditions - have you tested your
water ?

If your water is okay I would treat for an internal bacteria as these can cause pressure to build up internally which results in the eyes sticking out and abdominal swelling.

No but I will, i've only got a basic ph tester (5-7 shades). I'll need to take sample of water to aquarium shop.

Don't really want to transport him, he likes oxygenated water. I had him in a small tank with some mythelene blue for a week with a split from airpump and airstone in there too, tried some generic fish safe as well but it didn't really do much at all.

He just got sad and sat at bottom of tank. Least in big tank he's a bit more lively, if ill. :/

PH can be fixed with water changes as can Nitrate.

Nitrite and Ammonia indicated poor filtration / overstocking

These are the 4 normal ones I test for.

its pretty hard to see as the chamber is all black, and its light out now (lights on a timer, getting into a routine!) It's litterally just hanging by the tube in the middle of the chamber :D

if I can help in anyway just poke me though :P
