They need a bigger tank.
Id love to,Not got the space for a bigger one though..they were in a 60Litre tank and now this 125L so..![]()
Yes.
Goldfish aactually require quite a large tank, but people think that putting them in bowls with no filtration is ok. It really isn't.
I used to keep 4 in a 110L tank, I gave them to my mate when I moved house along with a 200L tank and a filter to run it and they are huge now (apart from the couple that have die)
I have a Question:
What is the best combination of light tube colours to get the best colours out of your tank ? (it is a Juwel Rio 400 with the standard 2 tube light unit on it)
and another
I have just added some blue LEDs to the top of my tank held on with selotape.
Previous experience tells me this will not last long, but I wanted to see what it looked like before I started splashing money out on a more permanent method.
What can I used to stick them under the light unit ?

Im concerned about that white "Fluffy" stuff that's appeared on the nose of 2 of the darker/smaller fishes..only noticed it when i come to transfer them to the new tank..Something that should be treated or is it okay?
The bigger fish does not have it on his nose.
Picked up a Juwel Rio 180 at the weekend, was not planning on buying the tank until next month but it was priced at £300 for the tank and cabinet in a local shop.
I'm not happy at all with the aqua-scaping as it stands, just have some basic plants so far. I have got 2 decent sized bits of bog wood soaking in the bath currently, I plan on re-doing it all once the tank starts to get established. My local stockists in Thetford didn't seem to stock much at all, so I need to venture out a bit wider to see what's on offer.
Got my ammonia today, just waiting for my test kit to start cycling it.
Any suggestions with where I can go for inspiration for the aqua-scaping let me know. Also if you know of any decent stockists around me.

From this,
Then this,
To This!
Did you just laminate some thin ply and then use the threaded rod to clamp it while setting in a curve
Is that just normal gravel you have there with nothing underneath it, as you won't grow much in just gravel hold no nutrients.
It is just gravel, its also a bit thin at the moment. I think I need to build it up with something.
Looking at Aqua soil, its too dark for what I was after, is there anything else that I should be looking at to possibly put under my gravel? Also that ADA stuff is rather expensive for the volume I'd need. Please correct me if I am wrong but I'm basing it on:
9L bag at will cover 9000cm3
For a minimal 3-4cm layer id need w100 x d42 x 4 = 16800cm = 2 Bags.
I'm not going for a huge planted set up and looking to keep it low-tec.

.
You could always use Laterite, although this will have to go in first then the gravel on top.
