Your current Fish tank Setups!

Silver Dollars getting large, cause they eat all the bloody plants

Of course it is, what do you thinks more dangerous a big dog or a piranha?

Looking forward to those pics Psypher, are you one ultimate reef?

My AR200 is sat in the kitchen as i'm getting some builders round to see about reinforcing the floor in my room before I set it up.

Just seams crazy.

Bet you need decent filters and such to keep them?

Not really, quite a hardy fish. Why you would want to keep them is another matter, other than to say "I keep piranha"

They do need quite large tanks though to be kept in an adequate school to keep them happy. So size can be a limiting factor.

The silver dollars shown above are a piranha species iirc.

The pic above is what reminded me.

Im thinking the same. would be okay if you had some fancy display in say a shop or somewhat but I would say you would always have something on your mind with them

lol, that they might fly out and start eating people??

I would not keep any of the red bellies (or similar), as they are ugly, take chunks out of eat other, and are generally very dull to watch!

Silver dollars are probably the most appealing of all the varieties. Except perhaps Pacu, but they are real tank busters!

silver dollars are my favourite aquarium fish, those plants will be gone in days :p

you can get large pirhana very cheap as nobody wants them :)

Plants and Silver Dollars have been in the tank for 6 months now, there is equal growth to trimming lol. Funny thing is though is that they been taking chunks out of each others fins, so much in fact that two had no tail fins at all. But since they got to a good size they have just stopped very strange.

I have been doing a bit of research on different set ups and obviously want something very appealing. (not just a goldfish)

One thing I cant find is, Is it overly difficult to keep a marine tank?

Looking at the first page of this thread and notice one with a shrimp like thing and clown fish. this is the type of thing I would be after.

But dont want something that is extremely fragile to keep as obviously it would be my first decent set up.

Is it possible to have one as a first time set up

if you keep ontop of it and readup before you go into it (ie, join a forum /thesaltybox.com, and everyone will help you from the get go and answer any q's)

Thats the risk with mail order I guess, personally I think driving to a LFS to see what they have and seeing what you come back with is pretty exciting stuff, way more exciting than waiting for a package to arrive imo

Aye, he said hes had a few family problems, but still, to mess up this big (around 40quids worth of the order) is a bit bad, and the corals are tiny :P At least im getting replacements though.

Defo buying from LFS now. Unless i know howbig, lots of pics etc etc.

Live and learn!

took my community fish back to the shop at the weekend and currently have some malawi chichlids making themselves at home :)

will post a pic later.

i'd love a big tank like that, someone on the fishforums.net website has a massive one that he can swim, he has some lovely rays.

you mean T1KKARMANN

i'm going to his house next week he's having a fish from me.

i can't wait :D
