Your current Fish tank Setups!

anyone know about bulbs? i want to replace mine to give the plants more light and because it is a yellow colour and i want it more white to look brighter/cleaner.

just looked at my bulb and it says:

18"
15W
T8

what should i be looking for to mainly boost the plant growth?

Some great set-ups people. What do you guys do when you go on holiday? I have always considered getting a nice set-up and having just moved into a new place it would be relatively easy to make it a nice feature of the place. The problem is I quite often go away for weekends or the odd week, and don't really have anyone living close by who could pop in on a daily basis. Do they have some sort of automatic feeding systems these days that work?

Get Zoomed's max plant growth lights, they give a nive bright bluish tint and have significantly improved plant growth.

A few day's away and nothing is going to happen if they don't get fed, there are however tonnes of options on autofeeders out there so going away isn't really a problem, they're fairly inexpensive aswell.

I am still endeavouring to grow plants in my tank. I have purchased Java Fern, a few weeks back, and have noticed that they have these little brown things on their leaves which have just started to sprout what look like red roots. Any idea what these are?

my new 300L malawi setup, coming soon more rock and more fish! hoping to grow these babies into big fish :D

never had any problems with the juwel filters personally, since this tanks been set up i've been checking water levels every 5 minutes and i'm yet to see any signs of nitrite or ammonia, mind you it has got 5 sponges in and a cirax filter cartridge...

will take more pics next week planning a few changes this weekend

I really am struggling to get plants growing in my tank. I have tried everything but to no avail. One of the major problems is that the tank is rather deep (45 cm or 1.5 ft) so it has been difficult getting light to the bottom. The standard light setup that came with the tank was a load of rubbish, so I replaced the tubes with Zoomed's max plant growrth (2 x 15 watt T8's) and this improved the situation a little. I then purchased an additional starter unit and added another 2 tubes meaning I know have 2 wpg. Whilst this has stopped the plants from turning brown and enhanced their colour to a nice dark green, they are just not growing very much. I have only had the extra 2 tubes in for about 4 weeks.

My tank is a 30 US gallon (115 l) setup with 2 x Java fern and 2 x Amazon sword plants. I must add that the Java fern seem to be sprouting babies which I take is a good sign but I really wanted to grow a nice jungle in there and it is just not happening. I really need some advice.

I only have a few tetras, 2corys, a red tail shark and a plec and am looking to completely restock but im not too sure what to go for. This is the first tank ive ever had so I wasnt aware of the vast array of different fish i could get at the time. I love how some cichlid fish look but im guessing my tank is too small for those? I love quite 'evil' looking fish (have some serpae tetras at the moment they're cool) and am not too into fish like angel fish, guppys etc. Im looking for something a little different, any ideas of stocks i could have?

What plant additives, and CO2 addition are you using?
