Not sure the variagated plant is aquatic, so don't think it will last too long.

Are you adding CO2, if so how, and how many watts/litre are you running, also what fertilisers/plant additives are you using?

You are going to be limited to really mainstream boring stuff in that sort of tank, with the stocking already in there, so perhaps some cories, anything agressive will probably nail the guppies tails

Utajoker, the Plants on the left of you tank take to the sand fairly quick and get nice and bushy and the Tetras and Neons love it. The grass second from the right spread quickly i had some in mine and it ended up everywhere.

thanks for the info, i will keep on top of them :)

do you add anything to the water to keep them or do they do fine as they are?

Nothing extra to the water i found they grow better with a lot of light.

Depending on my tanks i added some salts to the water along with the usual liquids you add to make the tap water safe.

I changed the standard bulbs in my Jewel tanks for some new ones which had whiter light and they grew faster than the standard yellow tinted lights.

decided to get a new filter, ive read that the stingray ones are poor, so has found a fluval 2 plus on the bay for £15 think i mite get that. anyone reccomend a filter for 60L tank?

Anyone offer pointers for setting up a tank for some fish? Maybe somethign like Neons/a Shark etc?

I've always had dismal luck setting up fish tanks in the past. We some how even failed with a goldfish?!? We thought we looked after it etc well but it died. :(

With our previous set-up we even took the water to be sampled to the local aquarium place in Shirley who said the water was fine, but the fish still didn't last long.

something like this?

What type of fish could be put in this and how many?

If you are going to go to pets at home - buy one of their interper fish box tanks. They come in either 64 or 48 ltr tanks. I have two of the 64 ltrs and one of the 48 ltrs and they are dead easy for the novice.

Everything is in the one box and I am sure I got the 64 ltr tanks for under £100.

The smaller the tank the harder it is to keep the fish healthy

Agree with going to your local fish shop, but if the person was looking to buy at pets at home, the tanks I recommended are far superior.

Local fish stores are great, but sometimes they can be hard to get to / have very limited choices. Depends upon where you live I suppose.

Stingray's are terrible. I've got one in a small tank I used for raising fry.

I've got a Fluval 2 Plus in my 80L and it's excellent. I'd probably spend a bit extra on the newer U2 now as it also has biomax. They're available online for under £25.

just a moment ago i was looking at a U2 on the bay and decided to get one as they are not much more, liked the look of the adjustable output. think i will get one of them next week :)

have just recieved my new filter, will it be better to stuff the old media in the new filter and remove the old filter or run both filters for a week or so?
