Your current Fish tank Setups!

I'd love a decent tank but with a cat at a home, it's probably not the best idea :D

The setup in the reception of my office keeps the itch at bay for now though!

To be honest my dads cat sits and looks at the fish every and and again he will paw at the glass. most of the time he sits on the lid when the light is on and goes to sleep

 That's huge!

I didn't quite fully appreciate the size of it at first, but then when I looked down and saw people sitting just in front of it..... :D

Does any1 have recommendation on good marine LED light that's gives full spectrum and not too big? I was looking at the AI prime HD

I use Ecotech Radion XR30w Pro Gen 3, very happy with them, wouldn't mind the Gen 4 if i can sell these ones.

Kessil do nice ones to fit your size..

It's seems bizarre to me that you have all that equipment but no doser!

lol i have a GHL Doser 2 for about a year now just never installed, was having some DNS error issues with it when i finally got round to setting it up, all sorted now, i am one plug short for space as well, 16 running now, so gonna have to buy another powerbar.

You have done a good job of fitting everything in so far, I hung a doser from the top of the cupboard using some weird brackets I found in B&Q. Worked quite well, but the doser was a Bubble Magus that didn't even keep the correct time!

It's been over a year now since I moved home and gave my tank up. In that time I've decorated the new house and now just need a carpet in the living room. So soon I can get a new beast and start this crazy/expensive but rewarding hobby again! :D

First time posting in here so be kind. Currently running a few small tanks. Started off with a 8L nano tank for freshwater shrimp. Learnt a lot from this and set up Fluval Spec 20L a couple months after...inevitably set up another 25L tank for a couple of fish that a family member needed rid of.

All these tanks have been rock solid for over half a year at the very least and we've been pretty strict with our maintenance on them after having so many fatalities with freshwater shrimp. We have the 20L and 25L on external 400l/h filters and the levels are perfect. Check weekly with the master kit.

The fish we started off with are Endler Guppies in the Fluval, Sparkling Gourami a few Pygmy Cory. This tank now reliably hatches cherry red shrimp! The 25l tank had the orphaned fish in, a dwarf gourami, standard guppy and a few amano shrimp. In my infinite wisdom I thought we should breed the guppy and give him some mates. Mistake. We brought home two females for the male guppy 2/3 months ago and now we have 30 guppies. The strange thing is one of the females hasn't ever given birth but the other seems to have given birth consistently since being in the tank which sort of makes me think she was already pregnant.

But anyway, I digress...They're separated now!

We needed a new larger tank and a requirement was it to be a corner tank. We managed to snag a 2nd hand Juwel Trigon 190 this last weekend for £60 with a Aqua One Acquis 1250. It needs some TLC but I think it's solid.

We're going to put the males in this new tank and consolidate tanks albeit leave the females in the others.

My main question is, what is good practice with this 2nd hand tank to make sure everything is ok?

It had been painted on the back to blue and I've scraped that all off as I would prefer a black background. This will be a planted tank like our others. The external Aqua One filter is mighty loud. I've tanked it apart and cleaned it. It never seems to remove all the air in the filter so may just be that which is making it loud. Will have to buy another if not. The filter needs to be silent or I'll go mad!

Also need to find a stand for the tank but want it to be around 50cm high as we have low sofas.

Make a stand yourself if your anygood at diy dont try to put it on any tv unit type things etc as they wont take the weight something made from solid wood like a sideboard etc might be fine.

As for cleaning, if its really filthy the best thing will be citric acid mixed with warm water, fantastic stuff and washes away easily so wont hurt fish and cheap! Readily available on AMAZON

Think I will have to do just that. May be cheaper and get exactly what I want.

Thanks for the tip about citric acid. What about the seals, anything I should check on those? The people I bought from said that they bought it 2nd hand from someone else so not idea how old it is. I've filled it and it keeps water.

I may need some sort of glass polish to bring out some swirls also.

Re the seals, If it holds water its good! Id be inclined to leave it for a good few days full to the brim (over fill it just take the lighting unit/lid off and fill right to top just for piece of mind.

Any leaks tho and id instantly bin it. Id never repair somethng like that. Coz if it blew out its not just the fish tank that would be screwed, 190ltrs is a lot of water on the floor and anything electrical :)

Edit :- white vinegar is also good for cleaning and also cheap

so a little bit gutted lost two neon's due to pumping in too much co2 i was away and my num noticed it was high but thought nothing of it. on the plus side my new fish are fine
