Stocking is similar to last post i made, Various tetras, 1 brown bn pleco, one calico bn pleco, lots of shrimp, amanos, cherrys, bamboo's etc. 3 swordtails which are my newest additions

Got a dosing pump on way now to dose fertilizers and some glut daily as i don't have time when at work.

I gave up using Co2 in gas bottles, you have to be very careful you don't gas your fish, and it works out very expensive in the long run, i just changed over to liquid carbon providing you get the correct plants for it, my tank has exploded with plant growth since going over to it.

Iv been using it almost a year, I did gas them once after a bottle change but they all did survive luckily no lasting damage. Smaller tanks have a tiny tolerance to them too with the fine line of safe and lethal.

I will completely understand that there are positives and negatives between liquid and gas CO2.

I'm not sure I agree with the liquid CO2 being cheaper, its certainly more expensive in the long run, but in the short term yes it will work out cheaper.

The bigger the tank the quicker a gas CO2 set up will become cheaper.

For me the major down side of liquid carbon is that I cant reliably and consistently dose it every day. If I was to do that I would have to buy a dosing pump to go with it.

Where as CO2 is set and forget.

I agree that tolerances can be tight on small tanks but I tend to go for 'just enough' CO2 rather than maximum growth so I'm normally miles from it.

Having a shallower tank makes it much easier to grow demanding plants.

500 gram bottle costs me 20 pound lasts around 6 months on my 125l tank when I move out I will get a fire extinguisher but at the moment my mum went nuts with that Idea

she is not happy with a gas bottle been in the house

sure is don't forget all the camping gas in the garage along with petrol for the lawn mower but she is worried about a bit of co2

I can't remember the exact percentages but the natural air is mostly co2 if remember correctly from school

Haha gotta love that logic.

CO2 is only 0.04% of air, but yeh its not a problem as such in the amounts were using. Especially considering a really efficient car puts out 99g/km and no one bats an eyelid.

Though my wife did give me the look when I walked through the door with a 3kg cylinder.

I was well off

I did just want go down the FE route but we met half way with a JBL bottle I think a FE would last me 18months easy

Sodastream bottles with adapter if you want to make it cheaper. 480g iirc. 19.99 with 10 off per bottle returned. Makes 480g 9.99. Is what iv been using for a while now

Very nice. I was looking at one of those tanks recently; hopefully, I'll get around to picking one up when the right situation arises. They look so much nicer than some of the others that I've spotted of late.

Sale ends this Sunday if your looking to save some cash on one :) well worth every penny I spent on it I must admit they outdo Any veneer effect tanks I see. Although I do like the gloss reefer tanks a lot too

let us know how you get on with the vectra, quite fancy one myself to go with 2 mp40s and 2 xr30s

NoobCannon made a excellent choice of equipment, I have the vectra M1 also and it's an excellent pump, I really is dead silent, takes a couple of minutes to calibrate, I can't really fault ecotech products.

Returned the rollermat already. Didnt realise then epic size of the thing until it was outta the box (ordered online).

Going shopping again today to get a barb and a bit more hose for the m1 so that can be fitted, also a couple bags if sand for now and then gonna start emptying old tank so it can be moovd

Yeah. The thing was so huge that with that and the sump i couldnt fit anything else in my cabinet. I have seen the clarisea and it looks like it will do the job! but need to get the tank up and running now so will have to look at that again afterwards
