Tidy matey, what made you get this over the xfilter, what micron fleece does it come with, just about to swap over my spent 25 micron to either 9 or 17 I have.

Availability and price more than anything, the xfilter was on back order untill the end of the month and the only belefit i saw was a larger filter roll.

Plus D + D are a fantastic company whereas the innovitech i havent really heard of!

I'm glad it's still relatively warm out at the moment, just stuck my hand in the fish tank and it felt a bit cooler than normal. My heater hasn't been plugged in since my last water change on Sunday....:eek: Tested the temp and its still 22.5c which is warmer than I thought it would be.

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Just gone to do my evening feed for my 4 Peppered Corys.

As the pellets are sinking I notice something moving on the sand take a closer look and there are 2 tiny cory! They're a decent size so they must be at least 6 weeks old. Not sure how I haven't noticed anything. :o:D

bit of an update from my algae issues - took all my wood out, sprayed it with hydrogen peroxide and left for a day, soaked it for two days with a few changes of water to get rid and powerwashed the dead algae off (may have been a mistake as i'm getting tannins leaching out of the wood again).

That cleaned it up but i also added a jeabo dosing pump to put in easy carbo & TNC complete - tank has been algae free for the best part of a month and the plants are going great guns, although the water is a little brown from the tannins.

Did you have hair algae? I'm suffering with that badly :(

Have you tried a 3 day blackout? What lights do you have and how long are they on for?

I have a pair of LED tubes, not had the lights on for a few weeks, and it doesn't get any direct sunlight. But not tried a blackout yet. I need to give it a proper good clean out again as the algae has just taken over everything again.

yes, was green hair - worth doing a full blackout for up to 7 days to knock it back but i think the dosing consistency has really helped mine. Also up your water changes to twice a week if you can.

How often are you doing water changes?

I managed to finally kill mine by doing a full blackout for 3 days followed by no lights for another week, and a ~10% water change twice a week, hasn't come back since (this was over a year ago)
