Your current Fish tank Setups!

The temp of my tank is just under 30c probably about 28c hard to tell with this thermometer exactly. But ive noticed today that the betta is hiding behind the heater a lot. A minute or two before swimming out and then going back after a while.

Is this normal?

I've turned it down a bit and will monitor the temp but I'll hopefully be buying a 50w replacement heater one that's hopefully a bit more accurate.

Keep your heater and buy a controller like we suggested earlier the inbuilt thermostats generally suck especially on the cheaper end of the market heaters

They can probably be found cheaper but i use this one as it controlls heating and cooling

as we were talking about bettas earlier, does any one know a good retailer for bettas? online, shops in the south east or even importers? what are people experience of importers. ive been checking out local maidenhead aquatics etc but havent seen anything that makes me go wow.

I know the fish with improve when its in a proper tank and will get more colours coming through but the ones ive seen dont seem very exciting or even responsive/ much character

Try the Fish Barn in Crawley. You can put in requests for the kind of fish you would like and they will do their best to source it for you. It’s run by two very knowledgable guys who are always very helpful. They’ve had some beautiful and unusual Bettas in stock recently. They do have a Facebook page with gallery and they also can mail fish I believe.

Not sure if getting guppies as we have the betta and I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info. I just know my lad really liked them.

So I've done some more testing, nitrate and nitrite are both zero but I'm getting an ammonia reading of 0.50ppm. I'm assuming that's down to having such a new tank?

My reeftops lid turned up today.

Unfortunatly it doesnt quite fit and im talking to the guy who makes it about what to do but its a vast improvment on loosing fish for now @Spook187 may need your assistance with contact if you dont mind

I'm trying to take my lads aquarium seriously and use it as a learning opportunity as I'm leaning more towards a reef tank for myself. Just watching Raphael (my lad named him) swim around is relaxing and I love reef tanks.

Plus I've got a good roughly 5ft space I can put it with space to hide a sump if I wanted to go that route.

The Azures look good, are they very aggressive?

Not really. The flame angel is the bullly in my tank.

The azures chase eachother now and then as thry all have thier own spot they hang out in but not what i would call agressive. Theyve been together for over a year now so guess they are used to eachothers company.

Gonna be looking to remove them soon anway to add some more colourfull fish namley a melanarus wrass and a replacement dracula goby now i have the lid and the tank has settled down in the new house.
