This looks relatively simple to do right?
simple but time consuming. I looked into making my own tank earlier in the year and the cost of resources and then the time put in just didn't make sense to me. I can get it if you want something specific that you cant easily buy though.
This thread needs more pictures. going fresh water plant shopping this weekend and need inspiration
I have the acrylic already, and the bonding agent. I just need to buy some clamps and go for it.
It doesn't work out any cheaper, i decided to try it purely as a challenge to learn a new skill. It's only a 100l tank, but if it comes out well i'd make a 4 or 5 foot one in a few years.
How much was the acrylic and glue ?
Acrylic will not look nice for along and it scratches easily.
Having trouble dialing it in at the moment but its new so guess it just needs a few days of bedding in before its worth messing with it.
Hopefully its as good as spook told me it is or will be all his fault
Where can I rehome my plec? He has outgrown my 5ft tank now.
I am in Derbyshire about 10 miles outside of Derby.
I've been to wharf aquatics and they said they wouldn't take it.
He is about 18 - 20 inches long and body is about 6 inches wide.
Is the Nyos as quiet as everyone says it is?
thanks,Beautiful plec. One day I hope to have a tank that can house something like that.
thanks,
He's a bugger to handle though, was probably only 8 inches when I bought him.
Don't really want to let him go but he is just too big for my 5 footer
No its louder than my deltec was. Am hoping it will settle down. However my deltec used a dc pump and this uses an ac pump.
My review experience so far is
Good
Looks fantastic
Seems to produce a tonne of skimm
The amount of bubbles it produces is insane
The twister plate seems to actually work can see the fluid inside the body twisting
Seems to be well built.
Bad
Complete pita to “tune”
Noiser than my deltec, produces a constant low hum that can be heard from Adjacent room
No controller unit so has to be unplugged to feed etc (big pita)
Very expensive (but you get what you
Pay for)
