Just changed my fluval edge lights to the 46 LED unit and it's amazing. I would seriously recommend anyone with an edge tank to make the switch. Got some polyps in the tank for the first time in about 18 months and they seem quite happy at the moment. I decided to have a good clean out and I'm enjoying my tank again.

I am taking delivery of my new tank tomorrow.

Its an AC Aquatics custom built - 550L 5ft tank. Will add some photos as I get it up and running!

Hi Fish folk. Can anyone recommend a good place to get the stick like aquarium heaters? I need to have around 1 gallon of water heated to around 18c, constantly. An aquarium heater would be the best bet for me I think.

I think you will need a combined heater/stat as most of the nano heaters are pre-set to 25c

Ive had my Juwel Rekord 700 tank up and running for around 18 months now, so time for some fettling!

Internal filter / pump removed, and replaced with an Ehiem Ecco external canister filter.

Large pebbly decor removed, and replaced with a deeper play sand substrate. A few small pebbles placed around the amazon swords to keep them in place...

A bit thin on plants and fish at the moment. Since I've gained a lot more space, and filter capacity, I'll be stocking up with more plants and fish over the next few weeks.

Current fish:

4 * Pentazona Barb
2 * Corydoras Schwartz
2 * Otocinclus
1 * assassin snail

Quite surprising how much room the Juwel internal filter box took up...

On #1240 I showed you my mbuna tank.

Well I have decided it is too small (4ft, 280L).

So I have a new project. Pic below to give some idea of the size difference. Its 5ft, 510L - A lot deeper and taller than my current tank.

Hope it will be up and running in the next couple of weeks and will post an update. I have some interesting additions to my stocking too in the last couple of weeks - Will add a stock list with the photo once its all finished!

anybody able to recommend a 3ftish tank for a reasonable price? i currently keep goldfish in a small tank around 18l i bieleve and things should be becoming more stable at work soon hopefully so id like to start some tropical fish (love silver sharks, always have) and id like a decent sized tank to this with as i think if im gunna do it, i should do it right and to a decent size!

You need to be looking at a 4ft or bigger for the Silver Sharks.

well 3ft was just a rough measurment, i want a decent sized tank for a decent price really so 4ft is fine haha

*cough* Bala Sharks *cough*

may look all wonderful when Pets at Home sell them in their infancy at £2.50, but once they are adult and fully grown they are not suitable for most peoples home set ups. Even 4ft is pushing it for them fully grown IMO. I would say 6ft min.

And it is not fair to say "I will rehome them when they get to big" either, its just not right.

I'm hoping someone can offer some buying advice.

We're trying to get hold of a glass tank that is 30x15 (LxW in inches) for the purpose of keeping gerbils in, so it only needs to be basic (and cheap!).

We're having a hard time of finding where we can buy one in Reading. Does anyone know of any stores in Reading that would sell what we're after? If not, are there any reputable online retailers that could deliver one?

Should be pretty common stock for most local fish shops - YELL.com. Or ebay. You should find loads.

It's difficult in our area to find any shops that sell fish tanks, so are there websites that sell basic fish tanks? A few sites I've looked had bundle a load of other stuff with the tank which bumps up the price. We just need a basic rectangular glass tank that is around 20 gallons. Ebay is no good as it is collection only, and we don't have a car.
