Your experience with OLED burn-in

It's not one example though, it's hundreds. If it was a problem with the tech then every single user would have some form of burn in at 2000+ hours....

The test is at 10k hours. Before then it's unlikely you'll get burn in except maybe if you're unlucky. Keep in mind there's still variability in all products, most of all organic ones. Not every panel's identical & therefore not every customer's gonna see the same thing. It's not just burn in, it's everything (banding, calibration, etc) - the only difference is with burn in it's a lot more obvious even to the untrained naked eyes.

Yep my C6 has the same logo burn in and that was from 1hr in the morning viewing.

it’s also burned in the logo from one of the kids channels.

Both orange.

I could get the panel swapped as it’s got 5 years warranty but would lose the 3D if I went this route.

I have a C6 also with the same issue it came with a 5 year warranty from a well know high street store but i never actually contacted them about it because i was told it's no covered under warranty by other people.

I bought my TV april 2018
13 months ago we had a panel replacement for a known square box issue, PC world had no problem doing this.
Now we have screen burn, the usual banners,,, bloomin GMB, I wish ITV would do something about that and we have various other logo and central burn mainly on reds.
I have just phoned PC World and they were very helpful. The first thing they checked the details and told us it was still under guarantee, this is the cover they supply when paying that much for a TV (team knowhow).
They took me through a couple of tests with holding the power button and such and then went to youtube for a screen colour test, it was still there.
They must know this issue as they had no problem booking it in for a full repair in which I hope they put the updated panel in.
The phone number I used was 0344 561 0000 and it took me through the choices, I was connected to a engineer with 2 minutes.
All I said in the call was that it wasn't stated at any point not to watch the news, morning tv and so on and the tv had been used for general use and therefore was not fit for general use. The fact that PC World sold the TV with the knowlege that OLED has this problem means that "it was" faulty from day of purchase and was not fit for the purpose it is intended for E.G watching TV.
All I can say is that they were very helpful and are now repairing my TV.
I am not happy that the tech wasn't developed enough to withstand normal viewing but I am very happy with the way PC world has handled this.
I hope this post may help others.

Ive had my b8 now for over a year watched plenty of stuff on it including 4 straight days of sky sports during main gold events such as the masters and the open, Ive also gamed on it playing assasins creed, spiderman, god of war, GT etc. I rant trhe Samsung youtube burn in thing when it was published an I cant see any burn in at all.

I admit I dont have it on all the time though, perhaps 1 or 2 4-5 hour gaming stints a week, evening use of tv, netflix etc but so far so good. Will see where we are in a couple more years though

Don't run the cycle it reduces the life of the panel

There’s no evidence to support this IRC. Even experts have different views on whether it would or not. Besides, panels are now doing this automatically at periodic intervals.

I recently got some sun damage on my panel C9. Not sure how it happened as the TV has been in the same place from new. I can only think that whilst on early morning it caught some direct sunlight (whereas usually it would have been off) anyway, this left me with a a bit dark patch that was very visible on grey - running one single manual compensation cycle completely removed this - impressive really.

Hello All, I have an LG oled 55C7 bought in 2017 from Currys. As many here have had, I noticed a green band about 2/3 inches from the bottom of the screen; very light but present nonetheless. Its more apparent on red/yellow backgrounds. I first noticed it about 2 weeks ago. So given the rtratings review regarding the lg oled burnin issues, I called LG. They immediately told me it wasn't their issue but after a while and me pointing out the reviews, they told me send in images of the issue to a whatsapp number which I did. A couple of days later I called back to be told the issue is known as the 'green haze' and that they would replace the panel for £200. A bargain I thought however they then informed me there were no panels to be had for at least 6/8 weeks and to go back to Currys which I did. Guys from the very first call to Currys I was very pleasantly surprised. It was poles apart from LG. Currys basically told me that they would pick up the set, check it out and have it returned in 5 days. Wow, during lockdown, I thought they were having me on. But I agreed and the telly was picked up on 30/04 and returned fixed - new panel - today 04/04. No charge although I do have the 5 year extended warranty that came with the telly. Just thought I'd share as I know how frustrating it can be. I must however add a caveat, forget trying to contact the help on 03445611234. I've been on-hold for more than an hour on multiple calls. I suppose I just lucked it and managed to get through just before they probably shut some lines for obvious reasons given the current circumstances. The only method of checking a repair was via the Trackit https://trackit.teamknowhow.com/order-tracking-start.dhtml site but that is limited in the information it provides. Telly picked up/on its way to the repair cent/being repaired, etc. No real details. I'm trying to figure out how I can post the pre/post images in case folks wanted to take a look. Thanks

I purchased my OLED C7 back in March 2017 and recently noticed a green blob in the centre of the screen. I did lots of research and it appears to be a defect (processor unit being warm causing damage behind the screen). However, there appears to also be some image retention at the bottom of the screen as per the attached picture. I contacted the Richersounds Ops Manager who has been very helpful. They claim that it isn't covered under warranty but would facilitate a free/warranty replacement panel direct with LG and loan me a unit. They have also offered me a trade-in or discount on a new TV, I asked about QLED and OLED options:

QLED prices are below
Without trade in:
QE65Q85R - £840
QE65Q90R - £1130
QE65Q70T - £1300
QE65Q80T - £1600

With trade in:
QE65Q85R - £390
QE65Q90R - £680
QE65Q70T - £850
QE65Q80T - £1150

OLED prices are below:
Without trade in:
65B9 - £1115
65C9 - £1340
65E9 - £1420

With trade in:
65B9 - £660
65C9 - £890
65E9 - £970

So, I don't want to end up in the same position with a defective OLED in two more years so thinking about QLED and read the Q90R is the best option on the list. What are your thoughts? I have a bright living space with bi-folding doors behind me and a south facing garden thus, by all accounts, the QLED sounds like the sensible option but I do love the quality of OLED. I don't game and have been very careful with how we use the TV - no Sky Q pausing etc.

I am leaning towards the Q90R or C9. Is there night and day difference between the C7 and C9 or even C7 vs B9? Thanks for any feedback.

RS told me that because LG consider it a non defect and user error - it isn’t covered. But LG will do a goodwill panel replacement for £250 all in (packaging, collection, repairs and delivery) and RS will refund me the £250 out of warranty cost. RS will offer a discount on a new TV or a trade in price - it sounds like I’ll have to allow a repair before anything more can be offered and because LG would be doing the repair, I imagine LG won’t have any issues sourcing panels etc.

And how can image retention be classed as user error? "Sorry, you were watching it the wrong way"?

Someone with some clout really need to take on LG over their claims image retention is not a warranty issue.
