I guess its due to lots of training and then the responsibilty of so many lives, if you pass out or whatever for even seconds you will lose the 'picture' that could take you 5 mins to get back up to speed and fully aware of the movements within the airspace. Mine was a heart issue on the ECG just after the guy had said 'impressive, havent seen that in a few years' to my lung test. They weren't able to grant me a CAA licence on the grounds it was a new one but with restrictions already and the problem i have isnt fully understood yet so had to play it safe.
