Your Morning Routine

As i'm working from home currently my routine goes as follows -

8:00 Alarm goes off and it's straight onto the toilet for a 20 minute poo whilst reading the news
8:20 Have a shave
8:25 In the shower
8:40 Chill out for 20 minutes before work or if my daughter wakes up try to occupy her to let the wife lie in a little.
9:00 Start work
10:00 break off for 5 mins to make toast & a cuppa. I don't like to eat before 10am.

Wake up. Smoke a cig with a coffee.

Watch tv for a bit. I usually watch the news and the Jeremy vine on channel 5.

I only work part time so I set off after lunch. No rush I usually make or buy a bacon or sausage butty. Or cereal.

I also work in the evenings sometimes and mornings.

When I'm working in the morning I usually have a cig and coffee again and dont eat until I finish work.

Trying to start to eat breakfast more regularly and ofcourse quit or atleast cut down in the smoking. I just need to improve my mental health a bit first. I'm slowly getting better. But I feel proper rough when I wake up sometimes.

5:15: up cause my partner needs to go to work, if she doesnt then ill get up about 8:30 then fire up laptop for work or out the door if im going to sites.

4:45am Wake up
4:50am Shower + Clean teeth
5:00am Get dressed
5:10am Make a cuppa and check my phone
5:30am Sort my bag out for work
5:45am Leave for work

Don’t have breakfast until 9.30am, can’t eat earlier than that.

8:00am wake up by the cat meowing, let him in and feed him
8:05am Make a pot of tea and leave it to brew
8:10am Quick wash, use the toilet, brush teeth, get dressed
8:15am potter about for half an hour or more, water the plants etc
8:45-9:00am start work

Don't eat until lunch, and shower in the evenings

Pre Covid:
Up at 3 am, wash, teeth, quick coffee
4am work
12 midday home, shower, bed for an hour
6 pm dinner
10 pm bed

Now (shielding /furloughted)
Up at 7am, wash, teeth, coffee
Chromebook on, waste a few hours on the internet.
11am treadmill, resistance band workout
12 midday shower, walk the dog
1pm lunch
Waste a few more hours on the internet.
Bagpipe practice
Learning another language
6pm dinner
Midnight bed
All this with probably 10-15 cups of coffee. Really bad habit I'm trying to break.

I do admire those who are able to achieve so much before work.

At the moment I emerge around 7.45am and relax with a coffee in front of Netflix. Then log on for work at 8.55am and go from there. :)

- Wake up 7:00
- Breakfast at 7:05 - 2 slices of brioche with biscoff spread on. Mmmm mm. Followed by a coffee.
- Brush teeth and put on something presentable 7:45
- Leave for work at 8:15 (8:30 start)

I've been going in to work late for some time since covid (working 4 hours at work, 3.5 hours at home). I used to get up at 6:15 and leave at 7:15.

Irrespective of this current unpleasantness.

0640 Wake, toilet, brush teeth, flannel wash face and hands.
0650 Power on PC and grab coffee.
0700 Logon to corporate network and start up Teams et al. Work.
0800 Go for another coffee and yogurt or if feeling big; poached eggs / bacon in a wrap. Back to work.

I shower in the evenings.

My weekends aren't much different.

I would if I could. I'm usually woken up by my wife using the hair dryer or putting the radio on.

Haha :p

I get up about 15-30 minutes before I log in at work 10 miles away lol

But I work flexi-time so it's pretty much impossible to be late.

Now that's more like it!!

I must say it is impressive to hear how much some people get in before work though.

Not to be a contrary Mary, but new guidance says to leave your bed unmade for at least the morning, as it lets all the grottyness dissipate :p

Yep. I always leave the duvet pulled back for most of the day to let air get at the sheets.

On summer days I sometimes put the bottom bedsheet (unwashed) out on the line in the day. It's surprising how much fresher they feel when they go back on.

Jeez, I'm turning into my mum...

5am club is worth a read for anyone struggling, the book is awful but the idea behind it is good.

I have changed greatly when I was doing it, in a slump now but aim to return to it. I was up, and had done more than I do normally all day by 9am.

7.30 out of bed
7.32 Kettle on, feed cat, empty washing basket, in that order
7.37 fill caffetiere, do cereal
7.40 put washing in machine, turn it on, empty dishwasher
7.50 eat breakfast, drink coffee. Read book/ magazine while eating
8.00 wife and kids get up
8.05 Get asked why I am just sitting around doing nothing
8.15 put work lappy on
8.20 empty washing machine, put washing on line if dry, if not, in tumble dryer
8.30 Start work
Do short sets of sit ups/ press ups at 30 minute intervals now I'm working at home.

If I can face it, I get up at 5.45AM, which means getting on with important work without distracting "urgent" email interruptions.

Why does a poo take 20m, how is that even possible
