Your Morning Routine

Why does a poo take 20m, how is that even possible

Dunno, I don't understand how it doesn't take 20 mins. I'm not a pusher or a strainer though, I just sort of relax & let it fall out. I do allow a little time also to make sure it's all out, nothing worse than needing another poo as it makes me feel like I need another shower afterwards. Also, if the news is particularly interesting that morning I may run over, 30 mins isn't unheard of.

The only downside is the odd occasion when you suddenly realise you can no longer feel your legs.

Yep. I always leave the duvet pulled back for most of the day to let air get at the sheets.

On summer days I sometimes put the bottom bedsheet (unwashed) out on the line in the day. It's surprising how much fresher they feel when they go back on.

Jeez, I'm turning into my mum...

I know exactly what you mean, but there are so many little things that make your life more pleasant. I’m quite passionate about making sure my clothes aren’t creased or covered in fluff. I like our towels a certain way (tumble dried). All sorts of stuff my mum probably thinks of that makes me more comfortable.

Before lockdown, I woke at 7am to leave for 7.30 for an 8.30 in office start.

Since WFH I wake at 7.30, spend 15 mins waking (toilet, cig, drink), then do 30-40 mins on the exercise bike before a quick shower for an 8.30 at the computer ready for work. I usually grab breakfast around 10 if I have it.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. It's always good to share these things.

How do you plan ahead for heating etc?

My bathroom is pretty cold in the morning. Do you pre-set your heating?

Not something I do often LOL but I've had it before with working silly alternative night/day shifts and my digestion gets kind of out of whack - personally don't think those kind of shift patterns should be legal unless people want to do them (some are less effected by it than others).

and here i though taking a poo for 20min was the norm.. i'm usually on the potter for a good hour or so, but majority of that time is being immersed in watching random youtube clips and later forgetting why i was on the potter in the first place.

Anyho my usual Monday to friday would be:

9am wake up
9.10am brush teeth, wash face, get changed etc
9.20am make a coffee, switch on computer
9.30am 'start' work, open teams, act productive while watching youtube/netflix on my personal rig all till work finish

My man! :D

So many people unfulfilled by their jobs and happy to just get by/make it to end of day :(

08:40 - Out of bed and have a shower
09:00 - Into the study and sign into work
09:01 - Leave the study and into the kitchen for coffee and brekkie
09:20 - Start work

I do admire those who are able to achieve so much before work.

At the moment I emerge around 7.45am and relax with a coffee in front of Netflix. Then log on for work at 8.55am and go from there. :)

I thought the same, it's amazing some of the routines that are in here. I'm the same as you, almost to the minute.

Some people are perfectly happy doing that though. It's not for me but for most it's just something to be suffered until payday every month.

Also @LiE what a great thread, I've been mesmerised reading through it :D

A morning gym session before work was brilliant for me, but no longer an option with a small child. Similarly a cycle commute which is longer than 10 minutes is a great energiser.

No one is a morning person. It’s all internet lies. Mornings are all about ruthless efficiency to allow the minimum amount of time between getting out of bed and leaving for work whilst ensuring you (and the household) are clean, dressed and fed.

This is a great thread, it’s fascinating to see how everyone does things slightly differently.

Thank Christ that you mentioned the loss of feelings in your legs, I rarely experience it, but it concerned me, is it circulation, is it something serious?
I toyed with telling my GP, but maybe I’ll confine myself to reading one chapter only while on the can.
