As topic, this could create an interesting discussion. Must be based on the 2007 calendar year.

My team (Gone for 4-3-3):

GK - James
RB - Richards
CB - Ferdinand
CB - Vidic
LB - Evra
MF - Ronaldo
MF - Fabregas
MF - Lampard
ST - Tevez
ST - Rooney
ST - Drogba

Fairly obvious team in many respects. Fabregas mainly based on the past 3 months. Tevez mainly based on last few months of last season. James mainly based on last season. Rest have been fairly awesome all year.

GK - James
Defenders:

Richards
Laursen
Vidic
R.Ferdinand

Midfielders:

Ronaldo
Fab
Hleb
Barry

Strikers:

Torres
Drogba

Interesting that you have six man united players. I'll try to come up with mine...

heh, ok, i think club affiliation is creeping into this one somewhat. i don't get the thinking of people including Vidic ahead of Ferdinand either?

GK: James (equally could have Reina but I like James)

LB: Evra (I like Clichy as well, Arbeloa and Shorey also good shouts)

CB: Ferdinand
CB: Laursen

RB: Corluka (not a lot of quality to choose from here I feel)

LM: Young (maybe Petrov worth a shout as well)

CM: Fabregas
CM: Elano

RM: Hleb (started the season better than Ronaldo I feel and before anyone starts, I know Ronaldo had inuries/suspensions)

CF: Torres (still think he isn't on his top game yet but has impressed me since seeing him in the prem, a classy, talented and dangerous player that is going to get plenty of goals)
CF: Drogba

EDIT: Never read the "based on 2007 calendar year" bit, this is just my team of this season so far.

Don't rate Rio that high really, he has lapses of concentration and just punts the ball forward all the time, which some people will argue is a good form of defense and defiantly has it's place I like to see people play the ball more.

I'm surprised not many people have put Berbatov in for some of his stellar performances last season.

He's not found his form this season, but he was magnificent last year.

The Rio having lapses of concentration is an old argument based on past seasons but i haven't exactly seen much of it over the last couple of seasons and as for choosing vidic over ferdinand because you wanted a ball player? i just don't see that at all. I don't think many opposition fans even will argue that in terms of playing the ball out of defense ferdinand is up there with the best. In fact one of the criticisms of him in the past has been that he wasn't the old blood and guts last ditch tackle hoof it into row z type of defender. maybe we just read the game differently though, no matter.

true but not for me as good as Drogba and when you take into the account his performances and attitude this season he slips a bit further behind.
