Your Premiership XI 2007

Interesting to see quite a few people going for the likes of Torres and Elano, who haven't been here all that long. Personally when looking at Calendar year, I'd want someone to be absolutley AMAZING to justify selection over players who have done well from January onwards.

Yep, Torres (more so) and Elano have been very good but haven't done enough in 4 months to justify being picked over somebody who may have only been 'good' for 11-12 months.

4-3-1-2 Formation

Can't believe it took so many posts before someone had Friedel in as keeper!

Agreed !

Hes been one of the most consistent keepers in the Prem for years only being let down by shoddy defences in front of him

I must say I'm staggered at so many people picking Richards in defence. His game has so many holes in it, it's criminal.
Yes he's strong and fast, but his positioning is terrible and his decisions are poor. He's not in the same class as Finnan, Neville (though he's been injured since April), Chimbonda or Sagna/Eboue at right back, or even Wes Brown for me. At CB he certainly can't live up to the likes of Ferdinand, Vidic, Terry, Carvalho, Toure, Gallas, Agger, Carragher, Lescott or even Richard Dunne!

He has potential without doubt, but he's a mile from the finished article. I just don't understand where the hype is coming from.

Agree with that Nokkon, whats even more suprising other than him being selected in so many teams is that seemingly he's been selected at rb. He's only played a handfull of games there and in the more recent ones for England he's begun to look way out of his depth there.

Finnan is too slow and gets overpowered too much, Neville has been injured all year, Chimbonda has been shocking this season, I don't rate Sagna and unless I'm mistaken Eboue hasn't really played there much this season.

We Brown I won't even bother. There is no-one else really.

I overlooked sagna as I thought there'd be too many gunners, but he is pretty solid there and has some good skill also. Keeps it simple but sets up a load of moves down the right which lead to goals, while pegging it back to defend.

i cant see how people are leaving ronaldo out  its based on the calender year..being the last 12 months, not this season. how would elano, petrov or hleb be ahead of him. i think its impossible to leave him out of any team of the year

James( been playing very good last season and this season as well)
Shorey
Carvalho( Top player at the back better then terry or carra)
Vidic ( can score and do all the dirty work also a hardworker)
Lescott ( been very good with everton this season seen him play against us (liverpool) and he was man of the match)
Arteta
Gerrard
Fabregas
Ronaldo
Drogba
Berbatov( be poor this season but last season he was the best striker in Premiership with Drogba)

These threads are so predictable and boring. Why not try and make people think a little and make them state the team they support first, then pick an XI without any players from their own club?

Gilly's XI is probably the best and guess what? No boring, biased choices ;)
