Hmm never got the mass appeal for Leon, very good film but I don't think it's a masterpiece. Watched it again the other day on blu-ray actually.

Very difficult question, I've looked at this a few times and not come up with a list but here's an attempt although it might well change for me tomorrow. These are all films that I think constitute a must see i.e. your life will be better for having watched it.

12 Angry Men
Casablanca
The Third Man
Shichinin No Samurai (Seven Samurai)
Point Blank
Shawshank Redemption
Fearless
Million Dollar Baby
This Is Spinal Tap
Full Metal Jacket

I've already edited this list about three times and debated with myself why I'm including certain films at the expense of others. I could maybe do a top fifty and be relatively happy that I'm not leaving too much out but even then...

Would those ten differ from your ten favourite movies? I tried to pick ones I can watch time and time again, whereas my list for must-see films would be more akin to the one you posted.

It's probably about half and half, while I could watch all of them any number of times and enjoy them there's a number of films that would rank more highly than say five of those in terms of pure enjoyment. Some of my favourite films are pretty rubbish in any cinematic sense and I don't expect other people to find the value in them that I do so I've tried to go for a reasonable spread of what I think are the best films I've ever seen.

As I say though I could easily name dozens more that are almost on a par, there'd be a hardcore of three or four that I couldn't drop but the rest could be interchanged without issue.

They're all outstanding films.

I have a real soft spot for Dead Man's Shoes personally think it's one of the better British films made period. It's just fantastic and powerful.
