I have a couple of hundred channels bookmarked. Picking a top 10 is difficult and would probably be different tomorrow, but right now and in no particular order:

In a Nutshell – Kurzgesagt
TierZoo
Ozzy Man
zefrank1
Let's Game It Out
Invicta
Historia Civilis
Primitive Technology (dead channel now)

Hmm...maybe these too:

Schola Gladiatoria
Metatron
Mark Felton Productions
Shawstrength
The Lockpicking Lawyer
Metaball Studios
The Tim Traveller
Bad Obsession Motorsport

Considering how "diverse" this forum membership is it's fun to see that, so far at least, we seem to watch very similar types of channels :D

In no order -

Lockpicking Lawyer (lock-picking)
Scott Manley (Space talk)
Forgotten Weapons (firearm histories)
Demolition Ranch (fun with firearms)
Linus Tech Tips (Tech stuff)
Sarah'n'Tuned (Transgender car mechanic)
Cleetus McFarland (fun with cars)
Mark Felton (military history)
MxR Plays (reaction videos)
The Dodo (animal stories)

Plus at the moment YT is heavily recommending <1 min TV show clips from Friends, West Wing, Star Trek TNG/DS9, Mentalist etc

Not really a top ten as such... I have too many subs I follow and no "top 10", not all of them upload new stuff week round, I just so happen to catch ones that do, doesn't make them top anything, just they are more regular uploaders.

But....

I really don’t get YouTube. The videos have pretty poor production, they constantly beg for you to follow them, everything seems very staged, the acting is poor. Yea, I watch the odd video but I’ve yet to find anything I’d watch a lot of. A few three minute videos are grand but people are seriously giving up TV for it? I don’t get it.

/oldman

honestly some of the stuff on there has pretty good production values, at least for non-fiction stuff.

a big part of it is that you can get shows that work as a youtube channel where they can distribute to a worldwide audience with minimal effort that simply wouldn't work as regular tv.

take for example c&rsenal, i challenge you to find a tv network happy to dedicate an hour to the detailed history of the 1886 lebel.

just like regular tv or [insert streaming service here] there's some good stuff, some ok stuff, all swirling around in a big pool of absolute dross.

I don't have a top ten andd often times my list changes depending on what I'm interested in at the time. Currently I watch a lot of GothamChess. Others are usually just highlights from football / MotoGP.

I do sometimes watch MetalJesusRocks, SuoerGT and Bald and Bankrupt.

Off the top of my head without going through my subs, got about 250 assorted subs across youtube. I find myself watching more and more these days as the quality a lot of folks can do independently has increase massively in the last few years.

- Critical Drinker - nails a lot of my own thoughts on TV/movies
- Shiey - travelling a lot of the world and exploring unseen areas / URBEX
- The Toe Bro - morbidly fascinating ingrown toenail and wart removal videos
- Kurzgesagt - great digestible chunks of information across multiple categories
- Aculite - most chilled gamer you're ever likely to come across
- Alien Theory - massive amount of fan theory around the Alien movies
- Alt Shift X - Deep analysis into a some TV shows I really enjoy
- CB Media - guy is living my dream in Thailand
- Dytto - girl with some amazing dance skills
- Wendigoon - fun extreme horror movie/conspiracy theory iceberg breakdowns
- Dust - occasionally great short movies

Critical Drinker mainly bashes Marvel and Disney, or states the obvious.

Starship Troopers was satire! What a revalation.../s

I saw that movie at the cinema when I was 15 and "got it" then.

I only have 40 subs and a lot aren't that active, but these are the ones I watch most often:

RedLetterMedia - Movie Reviews (new and old)
Digital Foundy - Games deep dives/performance analysis
Fully Charged - Electric Vehicle news/reviews
Harrys Garage - Car reviews/restoration
Explosm - Dark Humor cartoons
