You're only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake

Just saw this thread and decided to give it a go, luckily I had all of the ingredients.

The ingredients:

The mixture in the cup:

After cooking for 3:30 in my 800W microwave I ended up with this lovely cake:

After allowing it to cool for a few minutes and running a knife around the outside I turned it onto a plate:

It tasted lovely, not rubbery at all, I think that cooking it for too long would cause that. You can always jab a skewer into it and check it's clean when you remove it to make sure the cake is fully cooked.

Yeah i cooked mine for 2 mins in my 800w microwave and it was nice and fluffy. Its a good idea to mix it well to fold some air into the mix.

Is there any reason why you cant use some melted margarine in place of the oil? I bet that would taste a lot nicer than 3 tbsp of cooking oil.

I think I'll get some mint flavouring and some green food colouring and make chocolate sponge with green custard, like i used to have at school :).

wtf ninja edited lol.

Yeah its a lot of sugar tbh, i might try adding less and see what it turns out like.

I used 3 and it was perfectly pallatable, I don't like overly sweet cakes. I also only used 2 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil instead of 3. Might try 2 of sugar next time.

Just did mine it didnt taste so great, I think i overdid the chocolate :/ too much is too much. :D

And it was rubbery, so possibly overcooked as well.

also, if you overcooked it you probably burnt the chocolate (which happens easily in a microwave). Seriously, 2 minutes @ 800 watts is more than enough and leaves you with a nice, springy, moist (yeuch, hate that word!) cake.

can you use drinking chocolate (the cadburys stuff which is powered which you add milk to). Might be the same name for cocoa but im not sure :/
