I found 2 mins 15 seconds at 700W was ample. Thankyou OCUK!
 
We have a 1700W microwave so we cook ours for 2.5 mins. on 60% power.

We have tried flavouring the cake with maple syrup and walnuts and it was good, but volcanic in temperature with mouth burning tendancies.
 
just got home and had another one of these, as a starter, I made it while the oven was heating up, cook it for 2 mins instead of 3 and it's much nicer.... not rubbery at all!

Or stop the microwave a few seconds after it rises, seems to do the trick. :)
 
just made this, 2 mistakes,

1 used a cup with a metallic handle
2 let it cook to long, even at 800w i should have stopped it at about 2 mins.

was not good, very chewy
 
We tried this today with gluten free self raising flour and added milk as a precaution against dryness and it worked quite well. Next time I'm going to add a little more liquid.
 
Hmm, oh look at that i baked a cake earlier and it took hardly any time, 10 minutes to prepare 30 minutes to bake and seeing as it's probably 10-15 times the size of this monstrosity it's a lot less time taken.
 
I made another tonight

I find this modified recipe very tasty

4 tbsp self raising flour
2 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
6 tbsp caster sugar
1 egg
3 tbsp butter (melted)
3 tbsp milk
about 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
very small pinch of salt

2 mins for 800w microwave
