You're only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake

if you have marginally less liquid in the mix, and mix properly, you'll get a stronger mixture, and suspending the choclate pieces wouldn't be such a problem

Failing that, ig you know they will sink, place them higher in the suspension.. that way they will sink TO the middle, as opposed to FROM

Mix it all up > put syrup/treacle at the bottom, let it settle > add broken chocolate?

Surely the chocolate would rest on the syrup?

Going to have to give this a try. From the pics it reminds me of the sponge puddings by Heinz. The ones that com e in a tin and you microwave or boil them.

hold on i will run downstairs and find the recipe :D

Ingredients:

1 pound of icing sugar
1/2 cup of cocoa
1/4 tsp of salt
1/4 cup of milk
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1/2 cup of butter/margarine
1 cup of chopped nuts (optional)

Mix all dry ingredients together in an 8x8 inch microwave safe pan (important to use this size pan) *
Add the milk and vanilla extract.
Place the chunk of butter/margarine in centre (leave as whole do not chop up)
Microwave on high for two minutes until the bottom of the dish feels warm. Stir vigourously and blend in the chopped nuts (if using)
Put in a mould/whatever and chill for 1 hour

* it says to mix the ingredients in the dish you are going to microwave it in....however, i found this was very messy so i mixed it all in a bowl first then poured it into the pan and added the butter/marg.

Time my vary depending on your microwave. Mine is 700W/Category D and iirc i needed a little longer than 2 minutes. I judged it on how the butter had melted i.e. was it easy to mix in.

if im dead from this, let it be known ocuk....secret spy killed me !

it is a huge amount but it tastes soooo good :D

hmmm might have to make some at the weekend but first...on to the chocolate cake!!

nom nom

edit: so far so good, my idea of cooking it for a short while then pushing chunks of caramel chocolate into the middle is working as the sponge is already springy so stops them from sinking !!

ooh its dinged...here we go...

mmmmmm tis goooooood. I added a table spoon of golden syrup. i put it on for 2 1/2 mins on 700W and it had already cooked so i think the temp/time needs to be reduced. still yummy though especially with the caramel centre....nom nom

a little dry though so probably best with cream with choccy sauce

Whoooooo!

I just made some cake using the recipe in the OP. It's a lot more cake than I thought it would make (and it's stodgy too). I squirted some cream on top (oo-er!) and I can barely make it halfway through. My missus is gonna love this, as is my sister and various other lazy women I know!

And for the record, it's pretty good cake!

Grr the cocoa i have is a year out of date and the only other powdery flavouring stuff i have is nesquick strawberry milkshake powder :(.

Just use it, its best before not use by.

Provide it looks fine, it is fine.

it should be fine... besides which if you are that bothered, as I said, make up a little coffee+water and mix that in when you add the wet ingredients

coffee cake is good too

Ooooo yeah! :D

Dark brown segments are melted chocolate pieces

Unfortunately I am a coeliac and I made the cake with normal flour :(

The wife says it tastes nice though.

Hmm coffee cake sounds good but we have ran out of coffee as well :D. I'll go to Tesco later on and get some supplies.

Just noticed i have some ground ginger...

I've just tried this recipe but used green&blacks organic hot chocolate powder as i don't buy cocoa and it turned out rather good, even if a little rubbery. Thanks OP :)

Gonna try this in a minute. Will be using Bourneville Cocoa Power, dark chocolate and Crunchie pieces. Hope it's going to be OK. :D
