Yeah, I asked the wife if we had any veggie oil after mixing in the egg to find that we'd run out. I furiously googled to find if I could use olive oil to find the answer was a resounding NO!

Then I spotted on here that butter makes a good substitute. SAVED!

I still feel sick.

Butter is what you would normally put in a cake, veg oil is quite nasty in a cake tbh, ground nut oil would be ok at a push

I got frustrated and made some rice krispy cakes out of melted down snickers bars and butter instead

Just made and consumed this..

I feel sick.

It had a serious rubber texture and only the copious amounts of sugar saved it.

Also, I put the oil and milk in before the egg by mistake.

Sounds like you've vulcanised it with too much heat. 2 mins is a better time than the 3 mins stated in the op.

Just tried my hand at this.
1st impression, oh my god!

2nd impression, I feel slightly sick now,

Although I don't think I put enough sugar or vannila extract in, and It was rubbery therefore overcooked.

Oh and I also used Cadbury's Bournville (Dark chocolate) cocoa.

Holy thread revival etc? But worth it incase no one has tried this...

Here's mine, used the same measurements as the OP but changed the time in the microwave to 2:30 as I used a 650w one (judging that 1000w is 2 minutes as suggested above).

It's really rather nice for the amount of effort you need to put in, needs double cream though.

Disaster! My microwave only goes up to 850W so i tried to guess the timing (only read OP before trying) so i kept cooking it until it came out of the cup, it never did so i just stopped when it started smoking
