My youtube premium payment method ends on the 1st of jan but I haven't tested any other methods out yet :p fingers crossed they leave me alone for a little while longer.

Very useful links.

I never saw the google help page before, but it clearly indicates which country only accept local billing (which means VPN trick will fail at payment stage). A quick check shows that Romania is the cheapest remaining option, followed by Poland. The top 10 cheaper countries (that a lot of people were using) all require local billing now.

Took a look at this. For some of the videos YouTube is set to auto and only serving 720p. For others it's on auto but serving 1080p or more. I could manually set to 2160p but do I have to keep doing this on every video? I can't see a global setting.

There is probably an algorithm behind the default quality too
 
I can barely post anything other than 3 word comments on YouTube any more without getting slapped by AI moderation FFS what a joke. Especially any kind of nuanced, informational, post it seems to just pick out random words with the wrong context and suppress or remove the post or suspend my account (or at least ability to comment)...

Not like I'm posting anything controversial.
 
the only thing allowed to post comments on YouTube will be automated AI soon.. If fact I wouldn't be surprised if they started generating video's using AI, based on your general prefs.. want to watch cats being cute.. here's hours of AI generated cats being cute.. for which we pay nothing..

They already are, have you seen the pr0n bots and investment scam bots?
 
smart tube on my tv and brave browser on my phone are working fine so far.
i dislike youtubes business practices and am not willing to fund them any significant amount, IE anything more than a couple of quid.
 
Since uBlock was removed from chrome with their recent update I have had a few days with Chrome san-ad block. Sweet baby jesus. I don't know how anyone does it. I have moved away from Chrome now and I wouldn't give youtube/google a penny. Its absolutely horrendous without adblocking or paying for premium and I sure as hell ain't going to financially support their behaviour.
 
Oh yes and me no longer being able to make use of the Zefan_India™ lfficw has left my YouTube premium world crashing down in the last couple of days. Have looked briefly at Revanced but the slight effort of acquiring a YT apk and patching it myself has proved an obstacle too far, so far. I intend to have more of a look but, to be fair, I'm not hating non premium that much.
 
Sorted! fairly easy in the end. £5-6 a month via turkey. Can also use existing burner master account without needing to leave / join a new family group.
You essentially need to purchase your sub via itunes. You will need an apple device to complete this though.
