YouTube Premium

You won't get FLAC quality on any YouTube service. That seems to be a somewhat USP to Tidal.
the 256Kb/s AAC should be fine if it is genuinely available for all CD originated material from the record companies/rights owners - Tidal does cost an arm&leg,
but most people have Prime where their unlimited music seems to be 'just' £9, if you shared that with your wider 'family';
presumably you can give your children access without also giving them the ability to purchase stuff

It's open source (GPL), community driven, and covers the majority of popular (and not so popular) videos. It can be configured to silently skip/jump the ad/sponsor/drivel sections, and will also work on Invidious instances if you toggle that setting. Easy peasy, and it makes certain channels much more watchable!

Thanks @Rainmaker. Useful add-in.

256 kbit AAC is not the same as FLAC, even if the vast majority of people don't care or cannot discern any major difference.

Another USP for Tidal is their support for spatial audio.

I just cant get bit perfect audio from Amazon music when feeding my usb dac (like i get with foobar 2000 and wasapi drivers or the usb audio pro app on my oppo) tbh though a bottle of red really enhances the youtube sound quality, my Beyerdynamics proper sing.

Tidal via VPN and works fine in Argentina.

The downside of Tidal they wont to make you Little Uzi, Jay Z fans and the recommended playlists are crap, Oh and the android TV app is useless beyond belief. I would never pay full price for it.

If Spotify upped their game and actual did lossless i would take the hit, but i don't think they are interested in music anymore.

So "Simply" to get this sorted:

1) Sign up for a virtual CC/Debit that you can top up from your bank such as Monzo or Revoult
2) Connect to a VPN set to India, Turkey, Argentina etc and login to your Youtube Account.
3) Pay for a year/2years/3years of Youtube Premium.

I have heard people say that you need to use an india/turkey/argentina address or it will not allow to be used with the account.

Any other pitfalls to be aware of?

Oh do i have to be logged out of all my devices that use youtube such as Playstation 5, Amazon Firestick, LG TV before doing any of this?

I'm still surprised Tidal is going .. there have been multiple stories about it's financial viability, maybe USA customers deem it a more important household expense, and subsidise europe.

have intermittently used Tidal trials of hifi , yes you can tell the difference vs flac at home, but I'd like a mobile/car solution which doesn't need pre-download,
in practice would be driving off the road if I browsed around on content like I do with Tidal at home, worse than flicking tv content for the other poor couch potatoes.

Didn't know they had spatial sound, but usually cynical about any genuine audio quality improvement from such DSP processing, surround sound,
which cars have, at a premium, to 'improve' sound-stage, just give me unadulterated CD version.

Can you buy YouTube Premium for a year? Longer via the India thing?

For some reason my premium sub changed from Indian Rupees to US Dollars from my November payment, was showing as 189 Rupees in October but now shows $2.38 or thereabouts on my last 3 bills, still works fine though.
