I had no idea! They don’t advertise it very well in the app. I can’t even see a dedicated section for them.

For me Spotify is even cheaper than YT.
Gotta love Spotify family, where family doesn't charge.
Outrageous isn't it. Doubled in price. But I can't be bothered to move back to Turkey to save 40p lol
91p to £2
I'm curious as to what impact these price hikes have on those who live in the aforementioned countires.
It feel like every other week one of these countries gets a price hike.
Has there been any complaints from the locals? or is youtube using targeted pricing?
Nope. Ukraine was the latest that was working a while ago, not checked recently but give it a try first.damn i am paying uk £19.99
not sure i can change to turkey now ?
I would love to pay YouTube for Premium, however it'll never happen until they resolve several gripes I have with the whole thing (which will never happen):
1. Bring back the dislike counter. This is standard Google telling you what you want and then asking you to pay for the privilege.
2. Stop changing the damn UI every 5 seconds. They rarely improve things and just make it annoying to keep up with the changes.
3. YouTube iPhone app is terrible at remembering settings such as resolution, playback speed etc. This means I have to set my preferences for almost every video.
4. iPhone app when you set to "High quality" basically uses one setting lower than maximum. This means for a 1080p video it selects 720p. Since when is 720p high quality? Why can't I just choose 1080p and it use that for everything!?
5. Can't customise how much of the video to buffer. This means when I'm on a train going in and out of signal it never has enough buffered to cover the dead zones. Yes you get offline playback, but I don't necessarily want to download a whole video on mobile data before watching.
6. £13 a month is too expensive. If it was £8 I'd be happy to pay.
7. They could make the service cheaper by binning off all the other random add ons that I don't want (YouTube music).
By paying for YT Premium I'd be supporting all the above practises and behaviours, which I don't, so I won't.
What? I literally said above if it was £8 I'd pay.Would you pay for it if it’s £2?
You're supporting it just by even watching YouTube. While the rest of us pay 2 quid or less and move on with life. What? I literally said above if it was £8 I'd pay.
Not whilst I'm using an ad-blocker I'm not. I don't have much choice on my phone. You're supporting it just by even watching YouTube. While the rest of us pay 2 quid or less and move on with life.

Wait till you try the app as a premium user. The YT iPhone app with premium is buggy. When it plays videos outside of the app, sometimes the video feed will freeze though audio will continue. There also a bug where a blank playlist would come up at the bottom, below the video in portrait mode, were you would usually see recommendations or comments. The only way to fix this is to fully close the app. Those are the ones that have plagued me so far.I would love to pay YouTube for Premium, however it'll never happen until they resolve several gripes I have with the whole thing (which will never happen):

Basically the usefulness and ease of use of the service has gone downhill, they've decided to put up a paywall for what was previously a free service, and they shove Premium in your face 24/7.

I've seen people say that on the iPhone app they get messages popping up saying "not available in your area" and/or signs them out. I'd only need it for iPhone as my TV uses SmartTube, as it's way better than YouTube and doesn't have ads. Then join us and pay £2 (actually £2.20) and sign up. The VPN trick is only a one time event, until the card expires.
