YouTube Premium

Bit the bullet yesterday and just subscribed at full price (€11.99). 2 days of adverts was a nightmare and the 5 hours I spent faffing with various VPNs and failing left me annoyed!

It was good while it lasted (4 years more or less!).

Stats in 24 hours show 2 hours of videos and 1 hour of music already. I made the right decision, although I probably need to reduce my 2 hours of YouTube a day a bit!

I had the same email yesterday, nearly thought the end was in sight :D

Switched on the VPN back to India, then agreed to the price hike, no dramas thankfully.

It's getting a bit pricey though!

:p
Which VPN did you use?

My Ukrainian one renewed this month. For some reason I'm not getting adverts on my my original account that I didn't add onto the family plan. No idea why but I'm not complaining.

Yeah I get that, but if you are already setup and paying in sterling. Is there a process to follow

You need to cancel, let it expire first.

Then it is a case of finding a good VPN (NordVPN doesn't seem to work anymore), and a country. 2 combination that works.

Some countries will ask for a Zip Code for an address, never found that to be an issue, I just use a McDonald's in the country or something. If it doesn't work then try another country. It's hard to pin point which one since it is like Wack A Mole, going through in your head up and coming, developing countries. So, not the G7, mostly those outside the G20. You know you are on the right track if the payment page is in their currency. If not then it's not working.

Basically....the VPN has to get past 2 things.

1 - It has to show the correct currency. Get to this part first.
2 - Then it actually has to go through the payment.

Sometimes the VPN will get past the first part but not the 2nd.

My YouTube premium sub via Argentina got cancelled last week. I tried signing up again using a Ghana VPN but not had any luck. I went in incognito mode and changed all the settings and billing address to a Ghana location, YouTube is also showing up as Ghana with a little gh in the corner and also showing the Ghana ip. But whenever I try to renew it's still reverting to £12.99 a month?
Any ideas on a workaround, what if I had genuinely moved to Ghana what would happen in that scenario?? Thanks!

To maintain your membership, please update your form of payment to one issued in Ukraine before 11 October 2024. If you do not update your form of payment, your membership will not renew automatically and you will lose access to your YouTube Premium benefits.”

Sad times. Received this at midnight.

It's getting harder and harder to get YouTube via VPN unless you have a card registered in that country.

I got mine working again, I had to change my Google play store region to change the YouTube payment country. You can find full instructions on this thread:
