I reckon the bios release was to fix the inverted mouse problem, which it did for me, it was not intended for those with no problems.
I reckon Asrock have done well to get a fix out quickly

Yes it was to fix the inverted mouse problem but i never had that problem until after i installed the new Bios gone back to 1.00 now.

here is an up date on my problems with sli set-up and a Revo drive

just had a response from Asrock teckiguys

They tested another board in there labs with same set up as me and this is what they say.

Dear Mr. Griffiths,

I tested it and could reproduce the issue, I will forward my findings to R&D in Taiwan.
The read speed stays okay, but the write speed is slower in PCIE5 slot.

Kind regards/ mit freundlichen Gruessen,
ASRock Support

so now waiting to find out what they are going to do.

Some of these problems mentioned in this thread do make me think if I should buy one of these or not. I just bought an i5 2500k and was planning to buy one of these, but well I'm really not sure.

I think I might just get a MSI or a ASUS board instead :(

In all honesty, how many people are running a Revo SSD alongside a crossfire/sli config though? I bet about 0.5% of people on here, so don't let it put you off that much.

I've had mine solid @ 4.6 for 2 weeks now, no issues what so ever

I think the Gen 3 is suffering a hell of a lot less BSOD/Rebooting issues that the standard Extreme 4 though (not to get them confused)

At least ASRock checked his problem, re-produced it, acknowledge it needed fixing and sent it off to their R&D dept for fixing - some companies would just ignore it or wait til hundreds of people moaned

When was it they sent it off for fixing as its been happening since the first release of the Extreme 4 board.
This has been going on since June.

and thats the thing, (I could be wrong here) but like with the MSI gen3 boards I have read a bit up on them and they do not seem to be having no where near as many issues as these ASROCK ones are.

I don't really want to get into a brand war here. But for me personally at the moment the MSI gen3 seems a safer bet.

This mostly affects people running the igpu and not a discrete video card so if your running discrete video card you have less chance of getting reboot issues or might not even affect you at all.

You recon MSI, Asus and Gigabyte boards don't have problems. All boards from all manufacturers have a few problems for a few users (50% of these are PICNIC's).
You're reading remarks on a forum designed for users to help each other sort out problems with their hardware. For every problem highlighted on here, there are thousands of users with the same hardware and no problems.

I'm not that blind that other makes have their fair share of problems. When I say read I don't mean just this forum :) just from what I have gathered from other forums and reviews.

There just seem to be more problems with this board than the MSI gen3 equivalent.

Anyways I don't want to get into a brand war arguement. I will ponder over it for a few days and decide what board to go with :)

That is beside the point....There is obviously a flaw with the pciex 5 slot that seems to be common in all these boards. You may not need to use that slot but other people may need to, so they need a heads up.

it is a design fault that needs rectifying. I will post up when I find out what they are doing about it.

I've got a Terratec Dual DVB-T card in pci-x 5, that runs fine.
I've also ran the board with no discreet GPU, no restarts.
I've got an OCZ Agility 3 SSD as my OS drive, no problems with that.
Had a Vertex 2E before that, which I've donated to my flat mate, again no problems with that.

All these problems people are having, doesn't make it board specific. Otherwise I'd be having those problems too.

Well my board just died....
Symptoms

froze windows, pressed restart, pc switched off....pressed start and only half the case fans now working and debug says 00

tried reset cmos but no change......any ideas....could it be power supply gone? or has the motherboard died

This really is a fantastic board, owned a few boards in my life but never one that overclocked so easy and so well got my 17 2600k to 4.9 on a test, did not try any higher and that was on 1.35v
