I've pre-ordered the Gen3, and I've googled about and I don't see what makes it that much better then the Gen3?

which models are you comparing? the Extreme7 to the Extreme4? In that case then just the extra USB, SATA & PCI ports from glancing at the chart.

I'd go the Extreme4 Gen3 myself. I was thinking though, how come Asus, Gigabyte & co havent got they're PCI 3.0 boards out yet, anyone know

Probably because PCI-e 3.0 will only work when Ivybridge is released, this includes the Asrock boards. With Sandybridge the slots work in PCI-e 2.0 mode.

Good to see that these will be future proof for Ivy Bridge.
Well I for one will be upgrading at long last to gen 3 from my trusty quad core Q6700.

I've had a Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 installed since the weekend and i must says its a cracking board, lots of stuff packed in to it SUPER easy to over clock wen straight to 4.8ghz no prob. The "bios" is pretty good for my first board with a GUI driven bios it works well laded out well.
I've had a couple of tiny niggles with it the first being with my Razer deathadder left handed, in the bios UP and down mouse movement is swaped around, would have preferd a slightly different slot layout for my setup and wish I did'nt have to stare a Fatal1ty's face in the bios as well. Overall MUCH better than my old Z68 UD5 as i had nothing but issues and WOE with that so i would expect the Extreme 4/7 to be as good or better!

KillBoY_UK, can I ask you what firmware you are running your Agility drives on and are you using the Intel RST drivers. If so which version. Thanks

Yes they are a division of Asus.
How are these boards for overclocking? I'm not really sure what mobo to get. Only real things I need are Xfire/SLI, fits sandybridge with futureproofing for ivybridge. A sata socket for an SSD and a HDD or two. Supports RAM up to 1600mhz+ DDR3. Don't want to spend more than £150 but if these boards are worth the extra tenner I'd be willing.

Strangely enough I'm rma'ing a cra**y ud4 after having nothing but trouble with it.
Waiting for ocuk to say these are in stock before I buy though been stung with pre-orders before

well my UD5 loved to boot loop, fail to boot then go to bios defaults, buggered my Razer mouse with a very odd fault and yer tell it to shut down or go to sleep and it would do a full reboot
But where does it state Ivy Bridge CPUs will work?Thanks for the advice.
