Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

When are more coming in?

Monday is our new ETA for more stock.

NathWraith, any news about the Extreme7 please? Last we heard from you the other day is that it was coming in this week and it would be available for pre-order at the end of that day.

I will update this thread later today about the Extreme 7.

I never used to have this stock issue when I made my first build four years ago. Now whenever I go to order anything it's always out of stock. What happened to this industry?

Nothing has happened. This board is a lot more popular than Asrock anticipated. All the stock they have shipped to the UK has pretty much all sold out via pre-order. So new stock will be going into allocation and very much a basis of first come first served.

Don't worry though, I am making sure I get every single unit of this motherboard instock for you guys!

It wasn't a snipe at you guys, I'm finding it difficult to source my parts at any retailer this build. I struggled for about a week for my CPU, waiting for mobo now (will prob end up pre-ordering now) and I still haven't managed to source all the watercooling stuff.

Seems strange since I never had trouble with stock for anything before. Have you guys noticed sales ramp up over the last few years? Maybe DIYing PCs got popular. Cheers for the updates regardless.

I forgot to make a mention on the (near) perfect slot layout.

You can have a soundcard in the top slot plus two triple slot cards in SLI / Crossfire (or 2 dual slot cards with a free lane in between for lower temperatures).

If you have a case with room for an extra slot at the bottom, you can also install a third card for tri fire / SLI. Thats almost as good as the R3E which can have have 3 graphics cards plus a soundcard without needing an extra large case.

Hence its near perfect as the R3E slot layout is still the best one you can get. Though most people wouldnt ever use more than 2 graphics cards plus a sound card so its perfect for that plus its the latest socket and tech ofc.

MSI + Asus have lots of boards with room for a soundcard plus two triple slot GFX cards, Gigabyte on the other hand are still using a lot of meh designs with cramped 2 slot spaces.

I see. I can honestly say I've never thought of that. Considering I'd be tempted to use Xfire in a few months and will probably be running a soundcard this is something to consider.

Seriously considering this board now. I've heard it doesn't overclock as well though and requires you to dump in more voltage. I've never understand how voltage regulator things (like 8+4) etc works on motherboards. I should probably look up a guide or something...

Temperatures on Xfire or SLI with a free slot between each card are significantly lower than when they are cramped into a 2 slot spacing, plus you still have room for SLI should you want to splash out on those expensive triple slot Asus or Gainward cards.

I also like how the board is all black, it would look awesome fitted with all black components.

I almost have all black components, just my MSI cards are silver with some red on the mobo, but imagine these components, plus black graphics cards on this Asrock board:

BOOO to the red and silver!

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen 3, plus all of what I currently have (minus 2 dimms), and with two of these cards would look sexeh:

OFC I'm not doing that, but someone else might want to have an all matching black interior.

My GPU/CPU/RAM will all be going under water. I'd WC the motherboard as well if I could find a block that would fit it. The black is nice.

Still, bit behind on motherboard tech so I think I'm going to need to look into what makes a motherboard before I make a purchase.

Mine just turned up:

^^

Picture makes me WANT IT!!! Oh soooo shiny and good and wonderful :(

Im gonna be skipping all of this gen though because I already have a nice mobo and want to make the most of it. I'll be waiting for 16nm CPUs before getting a new mobo.

Dont worry about this board, its got ALL the latest features and tech you could possibly want, plus it looks awesome and has a brilliant layout. I wouldnt buy any other board if I was buying a Z68 right now, and thats coming from someone who likes to have the best motherboard around and who would have never picked an Asrock board before this one.

I see. I think I will take this then. I quite like the idea of the extra USB3s I could mod into the front of the case too.

Well ive got it at 4.5Ghz but when i'm running LinX and all cores are at 100% it's dropping down to 3.3 for some reason?

All power saving features are disabled but either i'm totally blind or there is no option to turn off turbo boost.

That Z68 Extreme4 Gen 3 & Extreme7 are beautiful in black, seeing them has really got me confused as what to buy now.

I had been waiting for the Gigabyte G1 Sniper 2 Intel Z68, but the all black Asrock boards, has me all excited.

Use to be a Gigabyte & Asus fan, but Asrock are making some superb boards lately, & I for one am impressed with them.
