so I had 2130 score earlier on cinebench (r15) with my 3700x.

have changed a few settings in bios and the score dropped (even though the cpu was showing a higher boost)
changed settings back again and score still hovering around 2000.

Bit confused to say the least.
At the moment I have
enabled PBO
set mem speed to 3600mhz
set fclk to 1800 (doesn't seem to be automatically changing with ram frequency)
set cpu vcore offset to -.15 (tried -0.1 as well)

Also a question with regards to manually overclocking, the only way I can see to do this is to manually set the multiplier, but when you do this the CPU doesn't clock itself back down when its idle, it remains at the higher speed, is that right ?

Did you mess with your mem timings? I've noticed scores fluctuate quite a lot on DDR settings.

timings are set at XMP timings

Its weird behaviour, just booted in to windows, got a score around 2000, sat on another pc browsing forums and ran it again and got 2159 (best score I've had so far)

Okay now this is annoying. My ram is an 8Pack 3600Mhz C16 kit. If I set it to 3600mhz 15 15 15 30 at 1.4v it passes through 3DMark stability rest with 99.0%, ran memtest64 for 60min 0 errors, finally Karhu RAM test (supposedly the best one) for 60min 0 errors with like 1300-1500% coverage (cant remember). Yet after like 15min of playing AC Oddisey the game crashes.

Sounds about right. What thermal compound You are using ?? I'm maxing at 80 with my monster radiator hehe Try resetting cpu my IHS is far from flat i had to add extra liquid metal and it took 3c down

I'm using Noctua NT H1. I used the X spread method, not sure if i put enough paste but will check tomorrow.

what kind of temps u getting on s36 ? as have same cooler and motherboard just instead of 3800x an 3700x (waiting for am4 braket)
Well I changed the fans to Noctua Chromax, dont know if that will have a noticeable impact. I did all sorts of testing, from all core OC, static voltage, CCX OC, -50/100mv offset, and not doing anything at all. At the moment I have everything in Auto, seems to have the best balance between temps and performance.

Idle:34-40C
Gaming: The highest peak is 71-72C but stays mostly 55-65C.

This is MY cooling power 15 minutes of 170-220 max all core AVX2 load was checking if im ok on thermal side of stability before moving to core specific overclocks :] and this was after 4 hour of constant heavy load when checking what core can do what. My second Chiplet is MUCH weaker than first one.

my Weakest core is nr 12 max it can do on AVX load is 4300 not checked how far i can push cores taht are 4375 stable on it now

So it appears that my pc won't wake from sleep with PBO enabled.
the fans and lights turn on but monitor does not come on, with PBO off, no problem.

Ran a quick Cinebench just to check what was going on and the cores all drop down to around 3300mhz with PBO disabled.

Asus X470-F

I kind of sorted it now, the PBO appears in a couple of places in the BIOS, enabling it from one menu it is ok.

Playing around with Vcore now.
the lower I make the Vcore, the higher it boosts, but the lower the score in Benchmark.
Ryzen master shows every core pinned at
-0.15 offset = 4200ish
-0.1 offset = 4100ish
-0.05 offset = 4000ish

Very weird chips, have been on sandybridge for last 7/8 years and it seemed a lot more straight forward

You're not wrong. Came from a 2500K, it's all very odd but fun in way to work out what works best.

I've got another RAM kit on the way Ballistix Sport BLS2K16G4D32AESB £140 for 2x 16GB. If it performs well I'll swap it for my 4000MHz stuff that seems like it might be overkill.

Same thing with me (same ram) on 9700k lol, just today and with AC: Odyssey.
