If it is faster than 3600CL16, then it's good. You need that boost. Hard to get 3600 CL14 or there is no difference?
Dunno what I've done to my 3800X but it just runs at base clock 3.9Ghz and no longer boosts to 4.4. It won't go to idle either. I have PBO enabled in the BIOS. It was boosting but since playing with RAM to get my 3600MhZ stuff to run at that speed it doesnt. Also doesnt boost if I load default values either. I'm n00b at memory OC'ing as always used XMP but my RAM is unstable at the XMP settings drawn from the sticks. Dunno what BIOS settings I need to change to get it back to boosting. Any ideas guys? My clock speed is stuck permanently at 3899Mhz. CPU-Z states that the multiplier is x39 but I cant find the multiplier option in my ASRock BIOS menu
Could always restore default values in BIOS and try again.[/QUOTE
I can't use 3600 or above as it limits my 3900x boost clocks. I doubt my chips are good enough for 3600CL14 even if they are rated at 3600CL16.
I'm right on the limit of stability underclocking at 3533CL14.
Hmm that's a good point, I wonder if setting memory speeds and timings via AMD's menu in the UEFI changes results compared to setting it via the standard motherboard manufacturer's menu?I did in the end start from scratch cheers. There is two places in the BIOS for entering all the DRAM timings etc and previously I used the settings under the OC menu but I found settings outside this which is the Primary timing settings. Pumped all the DRAM calcs into that so RAm is at 3600Mhz and it now boosts again to 4.5Ghz. Just need to test for stability again. Cheers

No, Ryzen Master is not what I mean. Within the UEFI there are two ways to modify the RAM speed and timings (at least on my board). The "standard" way is via the OC Tweaking tab. But you can also do it via the Advanced -> AMD CBS menu (can't remember exact names here). I always use the standard OC Tweaking tab method but I just wonder if results differ when using the other method. You using Ryzen Master to do all your adjustments, not ever going into your MOBO BIOS? I can't get this 3600Mhz RAM to run at it's specified speed stable. Gone are the days of XMP and off you go. Really annoying.

I do not use Ryzen Master to change anything, only for monitoring.
Heh that's interesting as I've had issues with tRFC for sure. I didn't know any of the settings actually migrated from one menu to another though, I'll have to look into that.Ah right, yes I know the tabs you mean. I noticed that after applying the settings in the OC tweaking tab (we both have ASRock) some of the variables don't port across to the advanced section which has further parameters available under the AMD Overclocking section. So some of the parameters entered in the OC tweak are still on default or auto when I go into the memory settings under the advanced menu. Certainly tFAW and tRFC under the advanced tabs were not what I'd entered, saved and applied underthe OC tweak menu.

THANK YOU! You've inadvertently solved a massive headache I was having. My boost clocks weren't behaving at all as expected until I saw this by chance.
