Introducing the ultimate home Broadband service. Future proof your world today with 1Gb fibre from JT, the fastest home Broadband available in the British Isles. 1Gb Fibre Broadband will open up a world of online possibilities where the only limit will be your imagination.

Download: 1 Gbit/s
Upload : 100 Mbit/s
Monthly usage: 50GB

JT's 100Mb Fibre Broadband allows multiple users to do much more online. Everyone can download HD films with ease, stream catch up TV and game online with no buffering, upload photos, download music, chat and shop non-stop with no interruptions.

Download: 100 Mbit/s
Upload : 20 Mbit/s
Monthly usage: 50GB

Usage limits are ridiculous.
How fast can your "monthly" allowance be done on a Gb line.

Do you use a router? If so, which?

Just like to point out that this is not actually my connection but a speedtest obtained by someone else who has gigabit fibre.

My area is not upgraded until next year at the earliest, all I know about the supplied router is that its made by Tilgin who are based at http://www.tilgin.com/

So it will probably be one of the ones listed on their site.

I'm still waiting for the technical reasons why you can't get 1Gbit form a 1Gbit line.

Well it appears you can't in Jersey but then again it maybe speedtest or hardware restricted. In all honesty I assumed the result obtained in Jersey was indicative of the type of speeds gigabit would achieve across the board but it appears it isn't if Hyperoptics results are anything to go by.

Bottom line is I am not qualified to comment.

1Gbit will achieve 1Gbit with capable hardware and servers capable of handling the bandwidth.

I don't understand why you would comment if you're not qualified or don't understand as it leads to misinformation being spread around forums.

Yeah sorry, to be honest I have seen higher results posted on youtube videos so knew that what was obtained here in Jersey wasn't the fastest ever but was still pretty impressed hence why I started this thread.

WOW! Impressive connection. 564.22Mb/s down and 226.92Mb/s up along with a 0-5ms latency/ping would be great for gaining host on any FPS/Online game such as Call of Duty. Them speeds also give you better downloads and limits. :) You could make a server with them speeds and host a website at the same time while downloading and playing online games. :) Back at College I had access to 700Mb/s down and 300-500Mb/s up depending on network usage around the College. :)

13.5MB/Sec on 1Gbit is quite weak to be honest. Might as well of got the 100Mbit service.

Yeah but the speedtest.net results obtained from locations across the world indicate much higher is possible.

Jersey to London d/l 439mbit/s
Jersey to Skipton d/l 388mbit/s
Jersey to Guernsey d/l 77mbit/s
Jersey to Bournemouth d/l 308mbit/s
Jersey to France d/l 248mbit/s
Jersey to New York d/l 66mbit/s
Jersey to San Francisco d/l 23mbit/s
Jersey to Tokyo d/l 24mbit/s
Jersey to Perth d/l 6.5 mbit/s

The only ones which got lower then 100mbit/s are New York, San Francisco, Tokyo and Perth which are all across the other side of the world.

Guernsey got lower than 100mbit/s too but that probably says more about the state of the network in Guernsey rather then anything else as all the other UK ones were much higher.

Its nice to see Jersey Telecoms Fibre Optic Gigabit Broadband up there in the top ten list of fastest ISPs.

I link you to these speedtest.net results obtained by other subscribers to Jersey Telecoms Gigabit Fibre Optic Broadband where they hit near the gigabit speed when testing against the Jersey Telecoms server.
