A friend of mine bought a MG ZT from carcraft last year on some silly finance deal (something like 8.5k for a 5k car over 5 years) because he had bad credit, hated buying old bangers and wanted a new car. Over a year later he's still paying for it, still happy with it and isn't bothered by the loan.

Maybe James will be the same? I doubt it but its possible

A year yes, 2 years yes, 3 yes yes, any longer i might start to get annoyed but ill be able to trade it in if i do.. Infact i cant ever see myself getting annoyed as its only money.. The only time i might is when i start paying for other things? Which i cant see happening for a while. & its only £150 out of what i earn. £40 a week..

As of now i cant see me having a problem, i see what everyones saying, i totally understand but im like the guy you know, ill be happy as ill be adding little bits to it and going out more in it and going to meets and things as ill actually have a car showing off to someone, i wouldnt show the punto to friends nevermind anyone else.

Haha not a chance :p

I am just exceedingly outspoken for someone driving around in a Fiesta :p I just get annoyed when I see people throw bucketloads of money down the drain and then try and justify it. I have tried to give James advice on many many occasions but it doesn't seem to sink in.

I did on the "doing up the punto" thread :p haha :D

It's far more likely that the OP also manages to be as bad at shopping car insurance as he is at shopping for cars. He genuinelly reckons the cheapest possible quote on a base Focus is £3800, which of course even with whatever circumstances he has, will not be the case.

Omg why wont it?

You actually think you know it all of something, i did the quote, thats the price i got, im not lying?

Im not stupid ive used 4 comparison sites and 4 normal sites and thats the cheepest ive got, im in Bradford.. The BNP leader knows the main problem with this city and that main problem causes the prices to go up, i think it was 3 out of 10 drivers dont have insurance, theres many stories that i hear about car related incidents in Bradford and my mum works for Bradford police traffic department and she tells me the same kind of stories, hense the high rate of insurance in Bradford, its the same for everyone, all my friends pay over the odds.

Well no you've just proved yourself wrong :D

How?

Who cares, I got quoted 3k for my Escort in my first year. I spent a couple of hours on the phone and I paid 1400 in the end. You just fail at shopping around. You won't get far in life if this mentality to money doesn't stop now.

I shopped around for the punto, spent a while on the phone and eventually got it cheeper, which ill end up doing but at the moment im quotes 2400 for it.

. . Only if the BNP radar kicks in haha

If only people like you were brought up in a place like Bradford, the BNP leader mentioned Bradford in his election comments, what makes u think Bradford is perfect? Racism is worse here against whites then it is against asians, get a grip, live in bradford and actually experience the lifestyle before making a snide comment.

James, the BNP has nothing to do with this, sure racial tension is bad but it isn't so bad that it doubles your premiums. Keep it on topic and actually answer my questions as I wouldn genuinely know what you have done about this.

I read through all my paper work after recieving the last bits on saturday, i measured up how much i am going to be paying compared to how much i earn and how much the cars worth on parkers and on ebay as standard.

I then figured im paying way over the odds which i already knew, so i started to figure out how much a week i need to put away for the cars monthly payments and how much i have left each month.. Im gonna put a bit away each week for a year and what ever i save pay off the debt.

I dont have a cooling off period, i checked.

Its hard to say but yes, not the best idea is finance, but i knew what iw as getting myself into..

Im happy with the car now and im gonna add bits to it and look after it really well so that when it comes to selling, ill have a few years no claims and a car that i own to pt ex..

Hoping to knock tha payments down to around 36 monthly payments which is what i intended in the first place.

In my 3rd year of my apprenticeship ill be on some good money therefore able to pay off the car sooner and upgrade WITH advice instead of going at it alone..

I do like the car, but thats because its a huge step up from what i had before..

Im going through stages at the moment, i love the car, but then every so often i think "OMFG NOT EVEN ALLOYS OR FOG LIGHTS!!" But then i think, well looked after, perfect cond throughout, lovely to drive, cheep to run etc etc..

All in all theres nothing i can do now, im in this situation and atleast im happy with the car.. Ill just see what im like in 3 years time and see if its paid off by then :)

I appreciate all the advice i really do, but im young and i do what i want, thats my only problem. I learn from my own mistakes, but i dont even know if this is a mistake yet, only time will tell.. Next time ill have better credit and be able to get a better car on a better agreement or even pay cash.

£125 a month for 40 months? Thats much cheaper than even the 60 month deal on the Carcraft website, you got a bargain!

£140 x 48

See my edit...

This car is costing you an absolute fortune, how much are you paying monthly and for how long and what was the deposit?

Around 165 with insurance/gap etc 140 for the car loan

How many GCSE's did you get above a C grade?

5 - Could have been 6 but my teacher wasnt allowed to move me up a class as my last school didnt send any info about my capabilities so the head of maths wouldnt allow it which was just crap.
