We hate Valentines thread

your learn ,the day is special for her so you should make the effort if you want your oats ;)
Also her friends and family will ask her what she got from you ,she's says "nothing :o"

I don't like the hype or the expectations of it, however I still think it's nice to have some fun and spoil someone. However the historical values of St Valentine doesn't really make it seem that worthy. Furthermore it has a religious context just like Christmas is - so there are a lot of hypocrites out there who celebrate it despite their beliefs or lack of ;) Still the story of St Valentine is quite interesting - worth reading up on.

I don't like the commercialisation but it's still fun to have a day "just because". Yes we may treat our other halfs in a special way every day which is great, but it doesn't mean you don't have to do something special on this day. So what if it's a day of love? Take it or leave it, it doesn't have to affect you if you don't want it to. however I feel it's about time women did the buying and treating!! ;)
 
It's the world we live in. It's no worse than Easter or Christmas IMO. It doesn't have to be as tacky as it's sold though - you can make it more or less commercialised. The day itself isn't bad though. It is unfair to hike prices up at restaurants though.
 
Seeing as it's the only Valentine's thread on the first page...

My missus loves the 24 roses I got delivered to her office. No fapping (well no self-fapping) for me when I see her next. :D

You don't need to buy into the commercialism of it all. Me and my gf are just doing romantic gestures for each other.
 
Valentines day is about finding love if you don't have it already. Commercialism has suckered people into thinking otherwise.

Hmm, heard this quite a while ago, cant remember which "comedian" it was. It wasn't very funny then either.

I have a GF she hassles for gifts etc, no chance, too skint. I agree with most, that it's pointless and there are better ways for showing affection.

I dont get all the fuss of for and against valentines day, its just a day.....Me and the Mrs may get each other a card, is about it, I like to surprise her at some random point and take her out for a meal, but it certanly wont be valentines day,lol
