*** VISTA SP1 (now with proper Microsoft.com download links!!!) ***

I believe this has been posted before (albeit not in this thread), but if you're happy to leave SP1 in place - i.e. you won't be uninstalling it - click Start, type in 'Vsp1cln' without quotes, and then press Y in the command prompt window. You should get a fair bit of disk space back, but you'll lose the ability to roll back to pre-SP1.

I haven't done that "Yet", but for some reason SP1 has removed all my Pre-SP1 restore points

Windows Update didn't offer the update to me because I've got two bits of "problematic" hardware (SigmaTel audio and UPEK fingerprint reader). Did the manual install (AIUI the worst case was I'd have had to reinstall the drivers, ho hum) and it worked fine. :)

Hmm I might try this instead since the WU install failed yesterday.

Im just downloading the entire 700Mb+ x64 file now.
I'd get it off windows update, but if i get the full thing, i can use it in future without redownloading.

Any significant changes, or is it just minor thing here and there? (havnt read the whole thread).

Wont install for some reason?
The KB article it references says the fixes are: restart, mem test, redownload off WU.
Still doesnt work though. :(.

Odd.
Installed through WU and its worked fine?

Havnt noticed anything out of the ordinary. Apart from the usual WU habbit of messing with the resolutions and positions of my displays. :( :p.

Already updated SP1 in Ultimate x64 and its 121.5MB (it depend on your hardwares) and it much longer to download and install which took 62 mins to completed included reboot and brought me back 54GB into my hard drive last time its was 614GB free space of 698GB now its 668GB free space of 698GB (I used Seagate 750GB in 1st drive and 500GB in 2nd drive). also noticed one thing is the RAM info which showed 4095MB (4GB RAM) to changed to 4.00GB also the Vista score was 5.5 (low score) now it goes up to 5.7 (CPU and rest of it are 5.9) -- no problems when updated and reboot plus wee bit fast boot up than last time - using Windows Update that what I did

yesterday i downloaded the standalone sp1 x64 which took about 5min and installed it which took about 35min... my transfer speed as gone up to 75-90mb/sec on my 6 drives.. but i've been using sp1 rc2 which was about the same
