Ico and Shadow of the Colossus
Final Fantasy 10
Kingdom Hearts
Rez
GT4
Tekken 4, Tekken 5
Jak and Daxter
Final Fantasy 12
Silent hill 2, 3, 4

Most of the other consoles can match, or better that for quality (IMO :p)

Yep, just Google "X games list", where X is the name of the console :D

You're seriously telling me the likes of the PSone, N64, 360, Dreamcast, SNES, Mega Drive, Gamecube etc. can't come up with an exclusive list each that matches that?

I think wii should be in the list because it's fun and great for family. Isn't that what it used to be for a game console?

But serious gamers might be dissapointed by the graphics.

PS3 still need times to mature and hopefully SONY knows what they are doing.

I think it could come close, But I don't think it would match it. No. But then again, that's why I put it as my number 1.

No, or maybe 1 potential, but some of those I can't believe youve said could be comparable. Look at some exclusives list for each consoles, you maybe surprized and the PS2 is the best selling console to date.

ps2 was great certainly top 3
sadly the ps3 is just following the same tired routine
thats why it wont be in my top 3 any time soon

PS3 has got a long way to go. Thing with Playstation is though they have some of the best franchises (imo). MGS, Final Fantasy, God of War, Gran Turismo, Tekken. PS2 seriously dominated in its day mainly due to the lack of competition, even GTA, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Devil May Cry + a ton others were PS2 exclusive at some point hense why I feel its probably the greatest console of all time (for me anyway, and maybe I was too young to experience previous consoles enough to fully understand/judge.)

I don't think I would be surprised, and I'm not sure how volume of sales relates to something being the 'best' (unless that's how we are judging this?).

It's all down to opinion anyway, and we all know that varies greatly in this forum :)
 
1) PS2
2) PS1
3) Atari 2600
4) Mega Drive

PS1 and PS2 occupy those slots purely for their respective RPG's. There was a load of AAA games on those consoles.

There was a lot of rubbish on this console, where as the 360 has basically redifined console gaming its bought a huge step forwards for gaming in the comfort of your sofa. Ok the PS3 has too, but lets not forget the PS3 was way behind the 360 release date wise and general opinion is that XBOX LIVE is much better than the PSN.

I think if you go by what it has bought us then its definately #1

The N64 had some of the most AAA exclusives that i can remember. My X360 is my main console and i also own a Nintendo Wii and while i agree my X360 gives me a better gaming experience then my Wii it can not touch the N64.

Thats just off the top of my head.

Still to this day i don't know how Nintendo and Rare managed to churn out game after game of quality. I guess thats why M$ paid $377 for them. I don't think they are worth that now but the stuff they put out on the N64 at the time was second to none.
 
The N64 was good back then, and it's true that few of the games hold up today. But the point is you judge the system as it was at the time, and at the time the N64 didn't have a high number of games, but it did have a pretty good amount of quality games.

Quality over Quantity. I never bought a console because of how many games it had but how many quality games it had.

But those "tat" games are probably a major reason for Playstation and Wii's widespread popularity, it's a case of the old "One man's rubbish is another mans treasure".

There's a lot of rubbish that were no mans treasure! However, the top games on those formats often help balance the scales.
