The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

Arrrrgh why did I sell my 8800GTS, it wouldve been enough to run this game, my backup x800 just wont cut it!

This, NFS:Undercover and L4D are making me want to buy a 4850 or 4870

Health bar can be resized i think i found this in the 20k ini file in mydocs/mygames

fHealthBarHeight=4.0000
fHealthBarWidth=40.0000

yeah i tried that command already, it only works in conjunction with the command bHealthBarShowing=0 which is for showing a healthbar above an enemies or NPC's head. Its to do with the resizing of that health bar rather than your own healthbar in the UI.

Ive no doubt someone will come up witha mod for the HUD at some point as is prob my only gripe with the game.

In the meantime ive adjusted the opacity of it to as low as i can manage while still making it legible.

Just completed the tutorial section at the beginning and escaped the vault, running on Ultra High settings with 2xAA and 8xAF with shadows and water set to medium and a couple of the sliders turned down a tad and it's running in the 30's and 40's FPS, sometimes get dips into the 20's and maybe 18-19FPS occasionally when loading up new areas but so far running well and no problems.

Must say I'm loving it, playing with everything on max and 8xAA and 8xAF. Places look fabulous, whole world has a real "Twilight 2000" feel to it. Love the way that shafts of sunlight which come into building through cracks in the roof actually change colour to reflect the time of day outside.

Got some immersion issues with npcs, like someone knowing that you just killed a guy 30 secs ago up the road, and npcs repeating "set" pieces of conversation even though you've already told them. "What?? They're dead !?" ...er...yes....just like I told you about 2 minutes ago.

Overall though, loving it, and its interesting to see how Warhammer Online and Fallout 3 have both used the same game engine yet presented different styles.

I dont use the VATS system at all though, as I find it seems to make things far too easy

Been using the VATS system about 9/10 kills, not tiring of it yet :) Tryed a little with using the traditional fps way, but it felt a bit wooden, not one of the games finer points.

About 6+ hours in and ive barely left the first town, milking it for all its worth and absolutly loving every minute, best game this year by a mile :)

The VATS system is great, although it's only as reliable as you make it really depending on your weapon skill. Loving the game so far, reached Megaton and spent about an hour or so there just looking around and talking to people. Btw, where do I find that Moriarty guy? I've been in the bar that he owns but I can't find him in there...

after you talk to the zombie barman he'll be outside if not he's in the back room behind the bar there's a sniper rifle at minefield the woman in the supply shop in magatron gives you a quest to go there and there's a sniper firing at you.

Spending all my time exploring and levelling up hard to find the good guns though want that lincoln rifle but cant find it
vats is only good I find when up close to enemys otherwise most shots seem to miss

Yeah I found him the next time I went into the bar. Whats the best way to get caps in the game? As a lot of the items for the house are rather expensive, same goes for the Rock-It schematics.

items for the house ? there's loads of places you can conquer and get a bed I use an old metro station fairfax and theres a bed at minefield
find the big tower up north and crack open all the safes in the penthouse suits $$$

Spent about 4-5 hours just on the first bit after you escape now ive just been going back and forth around megaton.

Love the game, runs well and look beautiful all maxed out, really immersive.

*spoiler*
I killed the guy that wanted to blow up megaton after he killed the sherif :eek:.
Wonder what consequences await.

Heh, heh...:D
