*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

I recieved a couple of emails a few days ago and now i can't check them. Just says "partially downloaded from server". It seems to happen when i get emails with lots of content and pictures. Text only emails are fine.

Anyone know how to save them??.

Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind i got it sorted :).

Yes - the best :D

What free email has push?

I've got push setup with my exchange but I don't generally use that account for personal email.

Yahoo mail "pushes"... so i've now set myself up an account.

Also try Shazam, girlfriend wanted to know what a song was on the TV... played it to the device and within 5 seconds it came back with an artist + track. Excellent!

Would you guys recommend a PAYG or 18 month contract iphone? I'm trying to weigh up the pros and cons. Struggling to decide. Picking mine up tomorrow (around 12ish), so your opinions will be vital in my decision.

I personally went with PAYG since i don't like to be tied to a contract for 18 months.

It's been running great and you get 12 months free umlimted internet and Wi-Fi, which is nice.

It really depends on how much you use it, but i like PAYG since you buy it and there's no questions asked.

I went for PAYG. you get to pick 1 of 5 tarriffs, which can offer you anything from free texts to free minutes for the minimum top up of £10. Or you could top up more, and get more.

Also, you get O2 rewards, which sees you get 10% back of your topups everything 3 months.

Reason I decided against 18 month contract, is that it works out total payable (if going for the £35 a month) would be just shy of £900.

Albeit, I paid full wack for the phone (£350) i'll prob only do about £10-£15 a month in top-ups, so approx £120 a year. Thats gave me a few hundred quid saving.

How much do you use text and minutes on a phone now?

Also, you get the same features, free internet access etc as you do with a PAYG & Monthly, all thats different, is your not tied to any contract, and you decide what you wanna spend. :)

Mull3t, were you able to choose the tariff you wanted when you bought your iPhone?

Edit: By tariff, I mean a different kind of tariff. For example, O2's text anytime.

Yeah, when I bought the iPhone, you get a PAYG sim pack, and in there it has all the numbers to call/text to change your tarriff.

I rang O2 and got it changed within 10mins. Good thing is, you can change your tariff once a month. So say next month I want to maybe get free minutes instead, I just text/ring the number (which is free) and opt for another tariff.

Also, the more you topup, the more you get (but bet you know that :))

Are you sure that your tariff was changed immediately?

When I called to change my tariff from favourite place (standard tariff for iPhone 3G PAYG) to text anytime, I was told that it would take 30 days for it to be changed after my last top up which I thought was ridiculous :(

Yeah, at first I texted and used the automated service, but didnt get any text to say my tariff had changed, so I rang o2, spoke to a chap, and he changed it there and then on the phone. About 20mins later I got a text from o2 saying my TextAnytime was working.

Strange, I called up again today since my tariff hasn't been changed yet (will be tomorrow since it's the 29th day today). The girl on the phone said that everyone who purchases an iPhone 3G on PAYG must stay on the favourite places tariff for 30 days before the tariff is changed

LOL? really. I changed mine no question, after only having the phone for less than a day.

How did you sort this, as i get the same?

Finally bought one on PAYG this morning :). All i can say is wow, the phone has blown me away. Checked out a couple of threads on top apps etc, Some quality stuff out there.. FOR FREE! really enjoying it.

Going to attempt the shield tonight. Just a quick question, When i connect to Safari, does it automactically use Wi-Fi or Internet? I cannot see where it tells you which connection its using..
