*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Right I'm having serious issues with my iPhone 3G. Its now got to the point where some people can't even get through, they get diverted to voice mail even though I have a full signal. I tried to phone it from my gfs mobile (had the iphone in my other hand) and got put through to voice mail... I've tried restoring the phone a couple of times but it still struggling...

Am I the only one????

What's the best "protection" for the iphone? And where can you buy them?

I have a contour case which protects the back and a full screen protector, both work and do actually look good, the contour slips over the rear of the phone has a gloss plack finish replicating the original design and doesnt add much bulk to it like most of the other cases out on the market, both bought from O2 store.

I'm thinking of buying an iPhone 3G. However I see they're only locked to o2 in the UK? Isit possible to unlock, since I'd like to stay on my Vodafone sim.

And also if I did unlock, would I still be able to use the free internet/wifi or is that o2 only again?

Thanks.

At this time, not possible.

You aren't. I've had mine since the first week the things came out and over the past 3 days I am getting the same as you. Most of the time I have a full signal but people still cannot get through. Voicemail hardly works now too.

I have noticed that lately the 3G signal on my phone has turned into a blue (gprs?) dot, which is odd.

You can buy an adaptor sim which fits over your sim enabling you to use your existing sim and network in a locked o2 phone.

Thanks for that. Any chance of it not screwing it up? Would I still be able to use the Internet/GPS with it?

Guessing the net would cost on PAYG? So using safari wouldn't be free? :p

If you buy one on PAYG, o2 give you free net and wifi access for 12months, i carry the o2 sim around just in case but i have web and walk on my t-mobile contract anyway.

Well bought mine today- VERY impressed so far. Nice and snappy and everything seems very smooth.

Just need to get used to the touch typing yet, not very accurate. I've even started using it before my invisible shield turned up (I was going to wait... as if :D).

Now, tip/tricks and good apps?

Yup thats happening to me too... I was using Safari with full 3g signal in camden where I work and next thing I get an error saying no connection... safari quits and then my signal slowly climbs back up to full.
