Hey guys, Im in the process of setting up a pc to stream high def content to my tv - just wondering so I dont have to start a new thread:

Will an A64 3200+ cope with hd content? Eg. downloaded HD tv episodes
& will a x800xt also manage with this?

All my movies are file-based. Either DivX, Xvid, Avi, ISO, IMG or MKV. Why you ask? Because its quicker than going through my DVD collection and looking for a film. Now all my movies are already there and i just select which one i want to watch. It certainly speeds things up and i can watch a film in my main living room and someone else can watch the same film in my other living room . The only boring bit is ripping the movies from the original DVD's/Bluray's that i own and converting them but i stay on top of it so its not that time consuming. Now i just rip blurays as i buy them and stick them on my home network and put the original disk away.

Thanks for the info, what software/s are you using to convert the vobs to the correct file format?
I'd ideally like to store my entire collection on my NAS unit, in a common format like AVI or MPEG so that everything i have can play it correctly.

Just picked up a Oppo DV-981HD of the bay for £62 delivered. Can't wait for it to arrive.

That's not the natural/default skin of MediaPortal though is it?

Your right. That is not the original default skin for MediaPortal. The skin im using is called Monochrome.
I've modified mine a little by changing the backdrop and removing the icons

Stream? you mean via wireless?
My 108Mbps router couldn't cope with streaming HD content wirelessly.

I don't think an X800XT will be up to the job for HD. You are far better off getting a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3450 Silence 512MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) @ £32.19 @ OCuk
I have one and it works great and silent!

An 3200+ may cope with 720p (even then i think it will struggle) but it certainly will not do for 1080p

i must stress this should only be used to backup your original discs and not used for fraudulent purposes!
It is not against the law to back up the original media you have bought

What is used to convert the raw files to mpeg/avi/whatever?
As that program just rips the vobs, or whatever the HD/BR equilivent is.

My dad wanna do something like that apparently, he got gigs and gigs of movies and he's tired of using DvD or watching them on his little crappy computer when he has an HD TV.

O james very nice you sorted your cabinet situation out. Have you just plonked one LACK ontop of the other ? May I suggest you take them apart and build a proper 'dual lack' it would look better with the one middle part, although I'm not sure about the weight of each of your bits.
