Nice setup!

Would be nice when people post their kit they actually list what they have. :)

Been reading through this thread and only a few have listied their actual kit in their pics.

Man your not wrong, just set it all up and I can't believe how good the up scaling is. It now looks as good as Sky HD. No idea how it compares to blu-ray as I don't have a player yet. But sweet and for £60 :D, I'm well chuffed, thanks for the rec. Need a new camera though and tv stand. Had to stack it on top of the amp with 2 dvd cases to allow airflow. Hopefully the amp wont over heat. Shall find out just got the Iron man so will be watching it.

Sweet, haven't heard a bad word about them. The only reason that I don't have one is that the PS3 does a good enough job paired with the Kuro, and i just can't afford to buy anymore kit.

hey -ad- just a quick question, whats the kit list there? iv'e seen that amp before but cant name it, also what are you using for a dac? surly you're not just using the phono out from the tv?!?

stu

Sure thing. Yup the phono outs from the tv -> amp, plus the cd-player goes into the amp. The PS3 and hd-dvd player playing films through the phono outs actually both sound great, but then again I have nothing to compare them to. But there is no hissing or other problems, so all good, which did shock me a little.

TV: Kuro 5090
Amp: Lyngdorf SDAi 2175 (Cracking class-D amp that retails at £1400, but around £600 2nd hand.)
Speakers: ATC SCM-12 on lead shot filled Target stands (boy do these need a powerful amp :D)
CDP: Marantz cd-63 with a shedload of modifications inside. Total ~£250, player cost me £12 :D
DVD/Blu/Media Centre: PS3 of course linked to Home PC via ethernet.
HD-dvd: Toshiba HD-E1 (Only 1080i, but the Kuro de-interlaces the signal very well)

Where did you get that cabinet from?

Do they do it in black?

x2 IKEA LACK cabinets. One on top of the other, and neither have their little legs bolted on. I have the same at my parents house, but they have been fixed together properly. O and they look great in black ;)

lol i told you Ad, they are the bookshelve units, they dont come with feet and you cant fix them together without drilling them :p

I fail.com :confused::D

I must be forgetting things with all this 2 weeks off work over xmas :D Did you already have the bookshelves from ages ago or just buy them for this use ?

just for this. i really REALLY wanted to get away with using just one but it couldnt be done. i just have too much kit to cram in there. i could have got a bigger stack unit to put all the kit in but for the cost im happy with the IKEA LACKS lol

I'm going to struggle combining my kit into our dual lack at home too, but it should jsut about fit.

Awesome things though, well built and cost peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

It's a messy set up, which is still very incomplete (still need to get a projector screen, centre speaker, sub, new pre-amp, decent equipment rack. And I need to move out. But it looks and sounds much better in real life, I promise! As a stereo set up it sounds amazing too. The gs10's and my music server sound fantastic, I can't stop listening to music!

Surely if your RS6 speakers are your fronts then you will have your back to the tv when watching films :p

Nice setup, just needs to be tidied :D

I thought picking my equipment was hard... Picking some bloody cabinets is even harder!

I wouldn't mind a couple of BESTÅ JÄGRA Stands, as we have a long wall. But the Onkyo 876 would never fit in that, even if it did, it would overheat. I could take out a draw but then I'm not sure if you can remove the shelf above it or not?

Can anyone tell me (as there stands come flatpacked ), if you can leave the middle shelf out?

Cheers

Indeed, but my projector's pointing in the opposite direction! So sound is always coming from the right place, I just need to switch the outputs of the av amp everytime I move to surround mode. It's a bit of a pain, but it works!

Need a shelf for the DVD player, xbox etc etc, also need to sort the wires (STILL), and get some speakers for the TV/Laptop.

Anyone recommend some decent cheapish speakers? Looking at PC ones really, like the Creative T20s etc. Also, anyone know of a good small aerial? Using that cos other one broke :(.
