List your crashes

My only crash has been when i revered into a bollard in a Tesco car park... oops! Do kinda need a new rear bumper, still not got round to that yet!

Apart from that i woke up one Sunday morning to find my car had been crashed into... so that was nice.

We were in Cyprus and driving from Nicosia back to Protaras, me not knowing the roads etc I was taking it easy, late at night no rush etc. She starts slagging off my driving, I tell her not to worry and to go to sleep... she carries on moaning so i tell her to grow up... then that sent her over the edge.

She had been drinking (i hadn't i was driving)... but still pretty messed up! Excess on the rental car was 600 Euros :o

Driving for 15 years. 24k+ a year for the past 11 years.

Ford Fiesta Pop Plus. (First ever car)

On way to somwhere. me and gf arguing whilst sat in slow traffic. Her parents in front. Still arguing as I see them set off, but fail to see them stop. Plough into the back of their LADA Samara with towbar. Minimal damage to their car, bumper, radiator & other small bits on mine. All i remember, was how cheap it was to repair.

Vauxhall Astra Van. (Company)

Going round a large motorway roudabout, following the markings on the road. Guy in a Mondeo, misses his turn, plows straight into the side of me trying to "make it". Age of van + size of dameged panel means write off. In small court, It was said that I had not adhered to highway code, so it was my fault, regardless of the markings. Markings on the roundabout were changed within a year.

Vauxhll Corsa van. (Company)

Going down a steep hill a bit too fast, country roads, hit a diesel spill on the road, caught it, but caught the curb also. Van starts rotating clockwise and smacks into a 40ft artic coming the other way. The metal bracket that "hangs" between the wheels of the trailer stopped me going right under, but the impact is hard. Van spins wildly, before stopping in trees/ditch, then bursts into flames. Lorry driver helps me out of the van as it becomes a shell in under 3 minutes. Sh** myself.
Extreme bruising around belt area and severe shock. Every now and again, I would feel a twinge in belt area. Took nearly 18 months for those to go away.

Seat Leon. Mk1

Pub car park. Reversed to quickly and caught a Shoguns bumper. Damage was so little, I never claimed. In fact, After a polish, you would never have known. Insurance later informed me that the repairs to the shogun were £2000+. I had broken the mounting brackets apparently. Sober btw.

Ford connect van switched lanes last minute and braked really heavily. Another foot I think I'd have stopped in time, but as it was it broke my spots and the car needs a new front panel, grille, and surround.

Green stuff pads, 2 mins from cold. Have since got rid of them! No damage to the guys van, and as insurance would see it as my fault, ill do the repair myself!

I was late night "rally" drive round the lanes back in North Wales in my Renault 19 16v. It'd rained a bit and I went round a corner straight into a wall.

snapped bumper only luckily. sounded like it was gonna be a lot worse. I got out of the car and there was a cow in the field laughing at me.

I also lost all but 2 of my rear passenger side wheel nuts on my old Nissan 200sx. The cat started to spin but I caught it and very quickly parked up.

I hate it when you're driving along and the cat starts spinning:(

My one and old crash was at literally 1-2 mph into the back of an unmarked police car (doh!)

I was in a Renault Clio courtesy car and there was no damage to either vehicle, which was obvious considering the speed. I wasn't concentrating on the road fully to be fair as I was checking TomTom, thought he was setting off to go around the roundabout. But he wasn't :o

The **** still tried to claim for personally injury and damage to vehicle.

Luckily my insurance company argued it and due to a few factors it was thrown out. He was driving around town in the police car with his GF in the passenger seat for some reason, which he didn't tell the insurance about so she obviously shouldn't have been there. I also went straight to Renault where there found zero damage to my car.

Imagine trying to hit somebodys car as slow as you possibly could. That was how hard I hit the ****. Yet he still got out of the car holding his neck

Rover 200 - My own fault. Went into the bottom floor parking structure at Morrisons when i worked there, went to park in a spot between a car and the actual garage door bit. Was too pre-occupied making sure i didnt hit the car on my right to check my left ... Then, SSSSCCCCCRREEECCCHHHHH. Knocked off the plastic bit on the door and had some pretty deep scratches. After a trip down the scrappy and some T-Cut, you couldnt even tell :p

The most embarrasing part about that was the fact a really fit lass who I worked with was just getting into work at the same time and saw the whole thing...I tried to laugh it off but was still fairly humiliated...:(

Havent had any bumps in the Astra since ive had it (over a year)

pulled across in front of somebody at a cross-junction, just made an error of judgement. Wrote off the 2005 megane.

End List

Almost did today though, twice. Black ice on back roads :( Had to catch a very large 45deg fish tail with copious amounts of steering and throttle inputs. Normally I only like to do that on computer games

spun 180 degrees doing about 40 a few weeks ago.
i was quite tired, and was thinking about buying a coffee and i didn't see or expect snow on the road, it was raining!

so yeh, the rear lost grip almost instantly, i then braked with then made things worse, started weaving about and then it spun and smashed into a snow bank at around 20 probably. no major damage, just cosmetic but it'll most likely still cost a few hundred € to fix various pieces of plastic and the wheel arch trim that broke off..

i replaced the rear tyres soon after.. the winter tyres were like summer tyres with a few thousand miles on :/

1st Crash - Mazda 121
Was on my way to work one morning, and was stuck in a queue of traffic.
I wondered what was going on, then saw some blue flashing lights up ahead.

Yes, an accident had ocurred already.
I decided to be nozy, and have a look while crawling past.
Person in the car in front slammed her brakes on, I try to and failed.
I ran into the back of her, she then proceeded to hit the car infront.

Queue the police telling us to pull over to the side of the road.
I ran over some glass and shred my tyre in the process. :(
Got out of my car and asked if everyone was alright, then get a camera shoved in my face.
Police officer says 'Hope you don't mind, but we're recording Traffic Cops atm'. :o

We all take a breathalyzer test, which was negative.
A large truck then passes on the road, and we hear a screech of brakes, as the truck tries to avoid hitting a car in front.

Queue the camera man and police officer running down the road and opening the cab door, to give the driver some stern words.
Car was written off in the end.

2nd Crash - Corsa
Happened a week last saturday.
Was driving with my mates to Chester, when we had to stop in a queue of traffic to let a car in front turn right.

A screech of brakes can be heard just after we stop in the queue.
BANG, 50-60mph into the back of me comes a Fiesta.
CRASH, I proceed to travel into the back of a 3000GT.

Needless to say my car was written off, boot caved in and damage to the front of the car.
Still waiting to hear from the insurance regarding liability.

Although I may have jinxed it by talking about getting another car the day before the accident.

Hmm.

Incident 1: 1998 ish Mk1 Fiesta. I pulled out of my drive and hit a Transit van. Got some pics somewhere but not scanned in. Tore off my wing but no other damage.

Incident 2: 1998 about a week after the first one :D Lost grip on steering wheel coming out of a junction and stoved the other side of my newly repaired Fiesta in on a Hyundai Pony. You couldn't make it up.

Incident 3: Sierra 2.0, flat out down a road known locally as "Six Esses" for obvious reasons, hit a 90 right and it was covered in gravel. Straight into the grass verge, bent the rack, smashed headlamp, grille, bumper

Incident 4: Sierra 2.0, got sideways, over-corrected, hit kerb on the inside (apex) very hard, it bounced the car 180 degrees facing the outside of the bend, over the grass and into a concrete post. Wing, front panel, headlamp, bumper, radiator all bit the dust.

Incident 5: Mk2 Golf, flat out single track lane, unseen 90 right (no maps), straight on through a hedge, no damage

Incident 6: 205 GTI, flat out single track lane, uphill adverse camber, fuel starvation on a 90 left, then kicked back in, wheelspin drew me to outside edge of the curve, hit the bank, 2 wheels for a few yards, landed ok, no real damage other than a small crease in the wing that almost looked like it was supposed to be there

Incident 7: 309 GTI, almost fell asleep at the wheel, straight on into a bridge. Write off.

Incident 8: Mondeo, reversed out of a parking space fast forgetting it was on full lock and shattered the bumper on a post

There have been countless other brushes with the scenery, flattening wheels on potholes, hit sheep, badgers, crows, spins, general offs, etc etc etc but I don't think of those as crashes, just "incidents" :D

Crash 1: Was being a total tit when I was younger and lost the back end on a wet left hander. Stuffed the car into the back of a parked Saxo which literally disintegrated, but avoided the oncoming traffic which was my alternative target. I was in a car with no seatbelts etc and apart from a banged up knee I was fine. My car was written off but fixable.

Crash 2: Looked but didn't look hard enough when I pulled out and went into the side of a van that was coming down the road way too fast. Bent the wing.

Crash 3: Broadsided my Ford Pop on the barrier of a very muddy oval circuit. Continued and won the race :D

Crash 4: Took my Anglia up the lane (private road) 'for a quick test' before it was finished over Christmas. Overcooked it on the way back in and smashed through the fence. No damage to the car unbelievably and the fence kicked back into shape :D
